Gonyaul's Lament for Voah

Gonyaul shuffled his feet through the dirt as he made his way back to the spelunking gear he dropped at the mouth of mine entrance. His posture was defeated, worn down from physical and emotional exhaustion. He could feel the urge to lay down where he was and just fall asleep. Yet sleep would have to wait, because the job was not yet done and he would push forward until it was finished.

Upon arriving, the gear all around his feet, Gonyaul looked at the mocking entrance to the mine. The darkness before him reminded him of his failure and it taunted his imagination to think of the horrible situations befalling those still lost in his depths.

He began to sing a lament into the opening. Perhaps the wind would carry the tune to where it needed to be.

"Ianarakaw otok ag nasukat usamira. Atana ekad ag ykietō urus onom o ekustim in uki yustihō ag usamira. Ihsataw aw atana o usamietihsagas.

"There is so much I don't know. So much I need to go and find, that only you provide. I am searching for you.

Don't leave. Please change next to me. You can ebb and I can flow. And we'll take it slow and grow as we go.

I don't know how this river runs. But I long for every twist and turn. In your current I will take the plunge.

Don't leave. Please change next to me. You can ebb and I can flow. And we'll take it slow and grow as we go.

I know not what will become. The stars don't tell me what will be done. But it will be better to grow together.

Don't leave. Please change next to me. You can ebb and I can flow. And we'll take it slow and grow as we go."

Gonyaul wiped a tear before it fell from his face with his dirty long sleeve. He looked as if he was painted with the colors of the caverns from all the climbing. He then began assembling the gear on his person and walked back towards the forge.
