No Trap

Sam grinned, teasing Rainey with, “My grandfather would say, ‘It was our land first.’”

He took the reigns of his horse, rubbing his neck. “Pale Moon does not take too kindly to others. He trusts you. I believe horses are intelligent enough to judge the character of people. What does Pale Moon like about you?”

The Comanche turned back to Rainey, almost insisting an answer from her, while avoiding answering her question. Most of his people didn't trust the white folk. Sam, however, only believed the white people to be opportunistic, something he believed his people lacked. A chain that he intended to break.
