Team Vespidae: New Hawaii -R&R-

Who: Team Vespidae
Where: New Hawaii
When: A long while after leaving New Australia
The Vespidae set down on the tennis court of a hotel complex built
on the beach. Even through the spaceworthy hull, the sound of
bickering was audible.
The rear door opened and CK, Pete Marwood and Jack Phantom stepped
into the glaring sun. Inside, the voice of Keto floated past;
"How come it took so long for us to get here?"
"Well I found locating our destination somewhat troublesome."
Amber replied.
"You got lost. How could you get lost you stupid woman?"
"Hawaii is an island, right?" Came Amber's response.
"Of course. And?" He said, raising an eyebrow.
"Well it's a little bit of land in a big bit of sea. And all over
the place here are little bits of land and they are all in one dirty
great bit of sea ok? So unless YOU know the geography of this planet
any better you can shut the smeg up! And lower that eyebrow before
you lose it."
Keto lowered it. He didn't know the layout any better than her,
but he fancied a moan. He'd patched Amber up with the on board
medical supplies and not done a bad job considering but had no word
of thanks.
"Leave off each other guys," Jack shouted over his shoulder. "Come
over and look at this."
The three men were standing on a beach of pure white sand. To
their left was the expanse of glistening blue water and on their
right was a large hotel that was now down one tennis court. Amber
and Keto came out too.
"It's beautiful." Gasped Amber. "I order everyone to have a
serious session of R&R."
"Aye aye skipper." Jack nodded to her, "I can deal with that."
CK turned back to the ship.
"Where's Mel?" He said to no-one in particular. He'd felt
responsible for her ever since he had spoken to her in Parrotts.
None of the others here knew as much about her.
He found her slumped against a wall. She had sunk into the squishy
material and was deep in thought with a small black book resting on
one knee.
"You ok?" He asked softly. "What are you doing? There's a great
view outside."
"I'm writing in my diary. I'll be out in a minute but if you don't
mind. This is private." She said, snatching the book up and
clutching it to her chest.
Meanwhile. Outside, the team heard shouting coming from the
buildings to their right. They saw a figure in a suit running
towards them gesticulating wildly and shouting. As he neared, his
words became clearer.
"...esus Christ! What the hell have you done? Have you any idea
how much damage you've done? Tennis courts are expensive you silly
bastards, why, why ,whyyyyy!!"
"Oh, we appear to have made the usual Blue Dwarf good impression."
The sarcasm was dripping from Peter's voice.
"I'll handle this." Said Amber already striding towards the short,
suit clad, angry man.
The others looked on as they spoke. Once or twice the man pointed
to the crew or the ship and clapped his hands to his head. Amber
made similar gestures and also reached back for the butt of her
shotgun on one occasion. The man looked defeated and walked back to
the crew with Amber.
"This is Mr Alonso and he owns this hotel. I have explained that
this landing was forced and that we are on a mercy mission. He has
allowed us access to rooms for as long as we need." She explained
"Excuse me, Mr Alonso can I ask you something?" Jack stepped
forward.
"Certainly sir. What is it?" He looked wary
"Have you heard of the pink furred coconut?"
"Aaah yes. They are very common here." Mr Alonso smiled.
"And where could we find them?" Pete added
"The trees they come from are in the Forbidden Forest. It is down
the beach that way." Alonso pointed to where a clump of trees stood
high above the beach a few miles further down.
"Forbidden?" CK interjected. He and Mel were heading their way
from the ship.
"Aaah yes." Alonso spread his arms wide, "It is just a name. The
tourists love it. The forest is quite nice really."
"Right, we aren't going until we have had some time to recover
from New Australia. Lets go to our rooms and get settled. After
you." The team leader said to Mr Alonso with a hand resting on her
gun.
Sorry it's a long one. I needed to stretch my writing "skills"
