Family problems

Who: Kevn Fenard
where: his guarters
when: after waking from a bannana yogurt related dream
Kevn opened his eyes and screamed, "WHAT THE SMEGGIN' HELL ARE YOU
DOING HERE?" he yelled.
A postal worker was face to face with Kevn and had a huge smile on
his face, "Package for you sir!" he said.
"Why didn't you leave it at the door?" Kevn asked
"You can leave it at the door? Oh. silly me. I was told to bring this
directly to you and make sure you get it."
"I think I would've gotten it if you left it by the door." Kevn said
glaring at the postal worker in annoyance
"You never know if something could happed to it. It could get rained
on or some crazy ferret could snatch it."
"This is a mining ship in deep space! There is a more likely chance
of me dying from a shower of female volleyball players than there is
of it raining here. And when the hell have ferrets gotten interested
in stealing packages?!" Kevn boasted.
"If you read the paper you'd know..." the man said as he waltzed out.
Kevn looked at the package. It was long and cylindrical. Kevn didn't
waste any time in opening it. When he sawe what it was his jaw nearly
dropped... It was his father's cane...
Kevn looked at the television/mirror screen and called Holly, "Can
you call this number?" he asked holding up a piece of parchment.
"Okay Kev." Holly said. The screen went black, then the image of a
gray room covered in photos appeared. A middleaged woman sat down in
front of the screen and at the sight of Kevn, looked surprised.
"Kevn Gandalf Fenard! Why is it that I send three hundred letters and
your dad's cane and you still don't call me? Hmmm? You better have a
good explanation!"
Kevn rubbed his forehead in frustration, "Mum you know I hate it when
you call me by my full name." He hated the fact that his parents were
avid Lord of The Rings fans, "I couldn't call because I was a bit
tied up."
"Well you better be a bloody billionaire with all that time you
worked instead of trying to call me!"
"So... Since dad's not there trying to tell you to keep quiet because
he's trying to focus and his cane's in my hands does this mean
he's..."
"Yes Kevn... Your dad's passed on..." she said trying not to cry.
Kevn sighed, "I won't be able to make it to the funeral... Mum I'm
sorry..."
"I understand... you must be busy... well just so you know we still
miss you..."
Kevn only sighed, "So does sis know?"
"I don't know. She hasn't called so it's only a matter of time."
"Okay mum. Goodbye." Kevn said switching off the screen just as his
mother finished: "Goodbye."
Kevn looked at the sturdy cane that he had proped on the wall. It was
made of the finest metals, his father didn't want it to break when he
was walking around. It was black with a silver handle, the handle had
the Fenard family insignia, a sword weilded by a mongoose, etched
into it. He couldn't believe his father was dead. He had never really
been on good terms with his dad. He was alwyas gone and when he was
around he was in his study and wouldn't ler anyone in. He practically
didn't know his father, but he did have one good memory about him.
His father had a false nose which if he snorted made a whistling
noise. Kevn only smiled briefly at the thought. He looked down at the
cane and sighed. The cane was meant to go to him when his dad passed
on. This, made Kevn think that maybe his dad actually knew he
existed, and that made all the difference in the world. Kevn sat
admired the sleekness of the cane, the only thing that proved he and
his father had a connection...
