Niples, Rufus, Rosette "Fun with tasers"

Who: Rufus, Rosette and Ambassador Seymour Niples
Where: The balcony above the Flight deck
When: As Mk10's battle of rage ensues...

"So," said Seymour, "we need to get to your joint to grab the
remaining personality files, and give him back his 'cool'."
"Exactly, lets go." said Rufus. The trio rose up, two of which had
somewhat greater difficulty doing so, and headed off just in time to
dodge the hail of gunfire that ensued.

The gangway lead around three quarters of the large flightdeck, meant
for an observation area of the vehicles below, and also for easy
access to the roof lighting. The third wall however was taken up
mostly by a large observation window, where air traffic control
observed the take-off runway. The observation area today was empty due
to the large army of robots stopping any shuttles from taking off.
Since now, the only robots shooting at them had been from below, which
meant that none actually had a clear shot. But now several robots
appeared in the large glass window. A small peewee robot noticed them,
a robot normally used for cleaning. It jumped up and down comically as
it saw them and beckoned a scutter with a bazukoid over.
Seymour pointed it out, and told everyone to move in an extremely high
pitched panicky voice.
A bazukoid shell sailed through the window, smashing the glass but not
exploding the shell, and hit the balcony they were on. The support
wire that held the balcony firmly in place snapped, making one section
of the balcony start to drop to the floor. Luckily it was the section
behind Rosette, Rufus and Seymour, but as the section fell it started
to drag the whole lot with it.
"Move move!" Shouted Rosette, who was closest to the broken section,
as she could feel the metal floor beneath her feet suddenly feel a lot
less sturdy. She pointed to the far section of the wall, where a small
access door was their only escape.
"I'm going, I'm going…" Said Rufus. "But Seymour is being so slow!"
"I beg your parden! YOU try running when you have a bleeding hole in
your shin!"
Rufus turned to Rosette behind Seymour's back and opened and closed
his hand like a sock puppet.
"Just MOVE!" Said Rosette, pushing them both. They reached the end of
the balcony just as the entire section fell.
Seymour started waffling about rushing him on his ankle until he
realised nobody was listening, and joined Rosette and Rufus'
conversation about stopping Mk10.
"Alright what about this…" Seymour started. "Could we wirelessly
transfer the file to Mk10's brain?"
"Seymour, he's a robot not a wireless router!"
"Well, yes, I know. But I thought he might have multiple functions,
like the way my phone has a camera, and an mp3 player, look!" He
showed Rosette, who wasn't remotely interested.
"Yes I know Seymour, people have had those for a hundred years!" said
Rosette.
Rufus continued. "We'll have to plug something directly into him to
transfer the files."
Seymour was too busy faffing with his phone to listen. "Do you want to
listen to an mp3? I have `The Barber of Seville' by Rossini in D Minor?"
"No Seymour, put it away!" Said Rosette. "Why have you got your phone
on you anyway? Nobody ever rings you on it."
"Yes they do!"
"Who?"
"They do…. Hang on… it's ringing now!"
"I can't hear it!"
"It's a quiet ringtone… Hello?" He said as he put the phone to his
ear, then walked away from the other two on his imaginary call.
Rosette rolled her eyes, then looked around for anything that could
help them. She walked over to a store cupboard to see if there were
any weapons in it. "Anything useful?" Asked Rufus, poking his head
around the corner.
"No, the robots have taken the good stuff. They've left a taser though."
"Well that's useful against robots." Admitted Rufus. "The dart will
just bounce off their metal skin."
"I'll take it anyway, we might be able to adjust it to stick the them.
We could short-circuit a few robots maybe?"
They both came out of the cupboard and saw Seymour, who was still
pretending to be on the phone. Rosette rang him, making his phone ring
loudly in his ear.
Seymour dropped the phone startled. "How DARE you!" he said.
"Come on Seymour, we're going to Rufus' lab to see if we can find a
way to stop – oops!"
The `oops' referred to the fact that Rosette accidentally shot Seymour
with the taser. The barb caught him in the stomach and he juddered
around as it electrified him for a few seconds.
"For christs sake why did you do that?!!" He said, alarmed.
"Sorry, I slipped." She said, genuinely apologetic.
"You stupid girl, I should report you to the Captain for your
incompetence, I'll sue, I'll sue, I'll---aaarg!"
Seymour yelled as Rosette pressed a button on the taser, electrocuting
him again. This time deliberately.
Seymour jumped, flailed his arms, then stopped.
"If you do that again I'll --- arg!"
Rosette electrocuted him again.
"Stop it. Stop it! Let me pull the barbs out. I ---arggh!" he jumped
around wildly as Rosette jabbed the button on and off in quick succession.
"Look, if I press it like this I can make him do a funny dance." Rufus
clapped in time as Seymour was made to do a 1990's disco dance.
Rosette stopped and Seymour sober into his hands. "Please, I can't
take any more. I think I've pooed myself."
"Eww" Rosette begrudgingly stopped and pulled the wires back into the
taser.
"Actually you've given me a really good idea!" Said Rufus. "The taser
fires wires which stick into the opponent right?"
"Yes! Don't we know!" Said Seymour, rubbing the points where the barbs
stick into his skin.
"And we need some way of sticking a wire into Mk10 so that we can
transfer the file to him." Continued Rufus.
"Woah woah woah…" said Rosette. "Are you suggesting firing a cable at
high speed into Mk10's USB port? What are the chances of us actually
getting it in?"
"No… well… we don't need to really." Said Rufus. "I could make a
device that would fire a magnet, then transfer the data via pulses of
electricity along a wire. Like how those devices you plug into the
mains to make the electrical wiring of your house a big computer
network."
"What?"
"Never mind. Lets just get to my lab!" said Rufus.
As they walked down the corridor (or hobbled in Seymour's case) it was
the first time in a while that they actually had a plan. Unfortunately
it wasn't going to be as easy as they thought to get to Rufus' lab.
Ahead, a skutter saw them coming and quickly pressed an `emergency
radiation leak' alarm on the wall.
A siren sounded, and a red light pulsed. Thick metal blast doors
started to close in front and behind them. The skutter ahead just made
obscene gestures towards them.
Rosette started to run towards the blast door ahead, she wasn't even
sure if she would make it before it closed, and what she would even do
when she got there.
<tag Rufus or Rosette! We need to not get trapped and get to the lab!>
