--- Rufus' Lab ---

Rufus lent against the door just after Andy had left, he watched the cleaner pause in the corridor, before walking on. Rufus felt bad, he felt bad for Andy, he looked lonely, but right now, the boy genius was not the person for the job. He cast his eye around the lab, the lights were dimmed right now, casting everything into a ghastly light. The place was strewn with discarded electronics and circuit boards, some of the hamsters had escaped their cages and were now running amok amongst the ruins. As he regarded his lab Rufus spotted the subject of his concerns, the broken and ruined Cloning Machine. He had built it with his sister to bring back their father Phil a few years ago, and more recently Vanessa Chrysler, his girlfriend. After bringing Vanessa back Rufus and Jay had decided that it was best to destroy the machine, before it fell into the wrong hands. Who knew what a horde of rampaging Hymenopterra or Mollopods would or could do with it?

"GOD DAMNIT!" Rufus exploded and launched his cane across the room, sending it clanging into the side of the broken machine.

He had been trying for days to make it work again, he managed it without Amber last time and he knew that he could have done it again. If only he hadn't burned the plans and disabled it in such a way that he could never fix it. He knew deep down that the efforts had been in vain and that there was simply no way to fix the thing. He hobbled over to the machine and picked up his cane. He looked over at the cryogenically held arm of his dead mother and sighed. He didn't cry, there were no more tears left, sure he was sad, but he couldn't bring himself to cry any more.

"She wouldn't want me to..." He said quietly, adjusting his glasses so that they sat straight on his face again. He wished Amber had been around, he needed his sisters company, but she had vanished almost as soon as she had landed the Vespidae in the Shuttle Bay days ago. She was dealing in her own way with the grief. Probably off being extremely violent in an AR Suite or doing some 'gardening' in the Hydroponics Bay. As he thought about his remaining family Rufus grabbed a carton of milk from the Fridge and was struck by an idea.

If he couldn't fix the Clone Device then he could build another one. Knocking up the plans would be an easy job for him, after all, he had an IQ of somewhere in the region of 170. Well at least that's what Cerebrum had told him, and Cerebrums tests were never that accurate. Point was, Rufus knew he was smarter than the average mook and he could do it. There was one problem though building another one was out of the question, there simply wasn't the parts on board the Dwarf.

"Unless....." Rufus said, his face lit up with an idea. "Trisees old Lab... Down in the Supply Fields..." Rufus jumped up and quickly exited the Lab, heading for the Turbolift.

The door swung open,

"Alright Rufus," Holly said, "Cor blimey, you look a right state" The AI added after a small pause. Rufus shot the AI a FeBuggure glare, ignoring the fact that his hair was greasy and hung limp, that there were various oily stains on his lab coat. He did look like a mess.

"Supply Field B Hol'. All the way to the bottom." Rufus said, knowing the way to his old mentor's lab inside out.

--- Supply Field B ----

"Thanks Hol" Rufus said and walked out of the Turbolift.

Something skittered in the darkness away from Rufus, but he didn't notice it too much. Anything down here that was going to kill him, probably would have done so on him exiting the lift. He walked down the isles of stuff and began searching through Trisees equipment for the right things he needed to build another Cloning Machine.

OOC - Still without internets, using Uni PC's to send this e-mail. Should be back with you guys by the end of the month though.... hopefully by the end of next week, we just need to get the internets connected to our house. Phone line came online last night. YAY!

OOC 2 - Also, http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/dirkgently/ for those of you who like Hitchhikers Guide I recommend this. I've not listened to it myself yet, I'm going to take it home and do so, but I'd still recommend giving it a listed. That and Vent (think it's on Radio 4, maybe Radio 3) if it's not there then do a search on BBC site for it. Funny stuff. Yeah OK.. Sorry I'm in uni and I do mostly Radio... what do you expect from me!? </Radio mode>

OOC 3 - YAY Trisees is back. He's such a miserable smegger that you have to love him!  =D
