Rosette - "Revelations 2"

<snip>
"Weird..." she shrugged and went back to the lift. The humming noised
continued...wait..it wasn't humming, the closer the sound got, the
more it sounded like.....like.....a kind of clicky-hiss...she turned
around nervously, to find the end of the corridor blocked by a giant,
salivating black widow spider which upon seeing her screeched loudly.
Jayne pulled out her pistol, "now this.." she said to herself "is more
like it....."
</snip>
Jayne pulled back the hammer on her pistol, it clicked into place to
let her know that she was ready to kick Hymenoptera ass. The giant
black widow's legs extended towards her like a spear, her keen pilot
reactions forced her to duck as the leg cut a few strands of hair
instead of the face it was attempting to hit. The spider roared at
her as the pistol was lifted towards it. All eight eyes moved and
looked directly into the barrel, the two clawed arms shot out towards
the weapon, but the gunpowder ignited too fast, launching the slug of
solid metal directly towards her.
If it wasn't for the tough exoskeleton that covered her entire body,
the bullet would probably have done alot more damage. The chitin tore
away, taking some of it's power, but left it lodged in a shoulder.
She screamed in pain, and lashed out with two arms and two legs.
Jayne couldn't react quickly enough to the random flailing, the weapon
was knocked from her hand, then she was flung into the opposite wall,
knocking her out cold. In a fit of uncontrollable rage, the black
widow spider disappeared down the corridor, vision filled with nothing
but red.
The spider leapt onto the ceiling, and into an open vent-hatch that
lead across the ship. Jayne awoke shortly after, and clutched her
badly bruised elbow where she'd been flung so hard into the wall. She
had known fights with the Hymenoptera, but never one that had looked
quite like that.
"What was that...?" she asked herself as she got to her feet. "Was no
normal bug..."
Meanwhile the giant black widow shot through the vents, another one
breaking open as the spider descended into a sleeping quarters, and
headed towards the bed. This sleeping quarters was very large, finely
decorated and covered with expensive furniture. The carpet was
obviously well looked after, but now had tear marks and black oily
blood oozing over it. As the giant spider moved, the legs began to
disappear into her back, and the abdomen split into two distinct legs.
pieces of black, silky exoskeleton broke away, leaving bare flesh
underneath. The carpet was now a bit of a warzone, but luckily it's
owner was away on business... The oily blood changed into red blood,
and continued to seep from the wound, in the same place as her
previous wound from the fight with Jed on earth...

Meanwhile, in the Medibay
-----------------
<snip>
At the back of the medical bay, behind a single force field was a
darkened cell. Giving the appearance of squinting, his mechanical eyes
zoomed in on the scene, making out two figures. One was standing,
judging from the skirt and the shapely legs he thought that it was
safe to assume she was the woman who was talking before. Then there
was the guy sitting in the middle of some kind of spot light... wait a
minute. Why did they duck tape a torch onto a pole? Why are they
shining it in a half-naked man's eyes? Why were a nurse and Dante,
armed with a booze-filled supersoaker, standing just metres away?

"Just watch, you'll soon see the truth..." Nikki said as she activated
the holo-projection unit. Instead of 3D images of Jedidiah's
Hymenthrope actions, it showed him standing on the bridge of the SCS
York, his old station.
"See! I told you i'd done nothing wrong!" he shouted at her, trying to
wriggle his way free. A few seconds later, a small image appeared in
the middle of the scene, and froze the entire picture. The message
read, in big glowing red letters-
"TransMed Pharmaceuticals wish to inform you that you are harboring a
dangerous being. Our collection team has been alerted, please hand
this being over when they arrive."
Then the image cut out, and the holo-projection unit appeared to
fizzle out, and die.
"What... What did that mean?" Jed asked, obviously as confused as
Nikki, and indeed the rest of the present crew were.
-----------------
Several hours later
-----------------
"Oww, smegging hell!" Rosette screamed, her shoulder felt like it was
about to fall off, taking her arm with it. It took her a moment to
realise that she was in Seymour's room... Biting her lip to get
through the pain, she tore some of the already blood-stained sheets
that she had been lying on, and tied them around her shoulder,
stopping the bleeding. gingerly, she searched the Ambassadorial
quarters, trying not to overuse her arm, searching for something to
wear, to get back to her own room.
"Hello Rosette. Don't be alarmed, I'm not here to hurt you." Said a
calm, bright voice from behind her. Instinctively, Rosette grabbed a
part of the sheet she was near, and covered herself with it before
turning to face whoever was there. What she saw was nothing less than
awe-inspiring. A young woman, not much older looking than herself was
stood there, wearing a white dress, and holding a plastic bag. The
dress she wore glowed with a brilliant white light, dazzling Rosette.
"Who... Who are you?" she asked, wondering if she was hallucinating
because of the pain. Her question was both answered, and unanswered
at the same time. Jed had already met this woman, and she had gone by
the name of Annie.
"The best name you could use for me is Annie. I'm watching over
you... This galaxy is in turmoil... And right now, you are the best
qualified person to fix it." she said, handing over the plastic bag.
"There are some clothes in there, and a small first aid kit." The bag
stopped glowing as soon as Rosette took it... She peered inside to see
some of her own clothes, and a Kodak packet.
"What's this?" she asked, picking up the small yellow paper packet.
She opened it, and looked at the photographs inside.
"These people have been placed aboard this ship, and want to capture
you, and use your gift for their own benefit... I trust you have
figured out by now what this gift is..." She said, waiting to watch
Rosette's reaction. It wasn't what she was expecting, a quizical look
that had only just begun to understand.
"I... Something happened to me..." Rosette said slowly, looking down
at her hands, and at the insect pieces on the floor. "Am I.... Like
Jed?" she asked, seeing a mental image of the giant spider-like form
of Jed Calvert, when he had tried to kill her in the TransMed building...
Annie smiled, and nodded slowly.
