Seymour - "Flipping the wrinkly potato"

<snip>
"What's so special about *your* universe?"
"You... you wouldn't understand!"
"I doubt your universe is *that* much better than ours." Seymour
argued.
He could feel himself getting pulled back into the real world again,
so quickly asked. "Any more advice for me? We pulled the purple wire!"
"Have you flipped the wrinkly potato?"
"No. Because I don't understand it's relevance."
Jenny shrugged. "Do it."
The wormhole evaporated and Seymour found himself in a pink room.
<end snip>
Who: Seymour and a potato
Where: In a pink room
When: Just after Seymour left the wormhole
Seymour felt his knees buckle and he fell to the ground. He looked up
to see a garish pink assaulting his eyes from all directions. He
hated pink.
He also was starting to really hate wormholes. It was a very annoying
method of transport, which also seemed to be totally random,
especially lately as he was being sucked into them left right and
centre. Another reason he hated them was that it seemed to be the
only time he saw Jenny, who despite living in a whole other far-away
universe, seemed to crop up whenever he was in a wormhole. He didn't
quite understand it, but it seemed that whenever he was in a wormhole
it allowed him to be "between" universes, and allowed her and him to
talk more easily. If only their relationship had been that long-
distance from the start, he might not have ended up with a baby and
on a ridiculous quest to save her from an evil corporation.
The bright pinkness of the room made him squint.
"Where in heaven's name am I now?" He asked himself. He didn't know
if he had travelled to the far ends of the galaxy, or perhaps to
another strange and obscure parallel universe. A universe where
everything was pink perhaps?
"You're in my realm!" Said a potato.
Seymour didn't expect anyone to answer his question, and he least
expected it to be answered by a potato, who was sat on a stool in the
corner of the room.
"Excuse me?" Said Seymour.
"I said, you're in my realm!" Said the potato. It was an extremely
wrinkly potato, and looked very old. It had a slit for a mouth which
was flapping up and down when it spoke, but no eyes. Unless you
called the little sprigs of roots jutting out of it 'eyes'.
Seymour remembered something Jenny had foretold. He stepped up to the
potato and flicked it.
The wrinkly potato flinched and whined. "What did you do that for?"
A voice in Seymour's head said "Flip the potato, not flick it!"
Seymour quickly apologised. "Sorry about that, I was trying to fulfil
a prophecy."
"We'll have none of those prophecies here!" Said the potato. "Unless
the one about your daughter."
"What? How do you know my daughter!" Seymour said quickly.
"If you rescue her. She'll be taken away from you again."
"Not likely." Said Seymour and remembered what Jenny had said to him.
He flipped the potato onto its back. He searched around, hoping to
find something underneath it. He didn't really knoiw what he was
looking for. A clue to help find Alota? A key to get out of this pink
room? A dimensional portal?A wormhole to take him back to where he
was supposed to be?
There was nothing.
The wrinkly potato rolled off the stool he was sat on, and hit the
ground with a thud and a cry for help.
"You'll regret that!" He shouted, and an alarm sounded throughout the
room. It was so loud that Seymour had to cover his ears.
A doorway opened in the pink room, exposing a corridor outside. It
looked like a medical corridor Seymour had been walking through all
day. He was relieved to see that he was still in the TransMed
building and not a million miles away in another dimension or
anything.
A doctor came in from outside. It was a dark-haired and dark skinned
woman. She took a look at the potato and was startled to see Seymour
stood there.
"What are you doing here?" She shouted at him. "And what have you
done to Clive?"
"Clive? The potato?"
"Yes, he's one of our earliest experiments." The woman
explained. "I'm calling the guards."
Seymour took the opportunity to high tail it out of the room whilst
the woman was picking up the wrinkly potato called Clive. He heard
her shouting after him, but he kept running. He ran until he hit
something very large and very metal coming around the corner.
"It's Seymour isn't it!" Said Dai, still in his large mech-suit made
from vending machines. Behind him were Queen Brittany and Lester.
"About bloody time Seymour!" Brittany scolded. "We found Dai five
minutes ago. The wormhole only sent him a few rooms away. Where were
you?"
"Only a few rooms away too." Said Seymour. "There's a very pink one
over there."
"Ooh where? Giz a look!" Said Brittany.
"No time!" Said Seymour. "We need to rescue Alota. She's really close
now."
"How do you know? Have you got some sort of sixth parenting sense?
Maybe a psychic connection to your child?" Lester said.
"No. I can see her through that window." Said pointed.
Sure enough, Alota was there. The room she was on was protected by a
sheet of solid glass all around, like a greenhouse. Inside they could
see a small child, a toddler, floating in zero gravity with wires
plugged straight into her. She was wearing a sweet little white dress
with frills at the bottom and on the arms, with sparks of electricity
arcing from her fingers to machines on the edge of the room. He hair
stuck out in all directions, presumably because of the amount of
electricity sparking around the room.
She seemed unconscious, or at least had her eyes closed because of
the lightning.
"What are they doing to my baby!" Seymour cried out. "They're
electrocuting her!" He banged on the glass.
"Actually.... said Dai. "It looks like the electricity is coming
from... her."
Seymour blinked again. "Oh... goodness me. You're right." Then he
thought for a moment. "But... that's okay, I just need a rubber
playpen when I get her home."
One door lead into the room, Seymour pushed it but pulled his hand
back quickly after he got an electric shock of a lifetime. "Ouch!" he
cried. "How are we going to get through that door?"
< Tag Lester! How do we get through the door? Sorry it's such a lame
cliffhanger. Email me if you need ideas, or I'll post later in the
week! >
