Seymour - \"Got my baby back\" pt2

Who: Seymour, Queen Britney, Dai
Where: TransMed
When: As Alota skuttles off
<snip>
Brittany scowled. She hated it when Seymour made jokes about wines. She turned
around. "Where's Alota."
"My baby? MY BABY!" Seymour screamed as he saw Alota crawling away down the
corridor.

Brittany and him ran after her. Luckily at crawling speed, she couldn't get very
far. Unfortunately she got around the corner, where three TransMed guards were
stood. One of them picked her up, and the others trained their rifles at the two
adults that were following her.
"Please... that's my daughter." Seymour said.
"She looks like Karangeth subject-38." Said one of the guards. "You're trying to
steal her!"
"Not steal. Rescue her." Seymour corrected.
The guard scoffed. "Rescue a subject as important as Karangeth-38? You're joking
right? You must be from some rival science company. It's a good job the
scientists on floor 388 have already used her DNA to create a doorway to the
Karangeth dimension. I'm sure they'd not want you running away with her though-"
Seymour was about to argue back, but the space behind them started to swirl and
move. Suddenly an Armadillo was behind them, taking up most of the space in the
corridor. In one very eacy move, it managed to bite off the heads of all three
guards. And disappeared into another wormhole as it crunched on their skulls and
brains.
The headless bodies stood squirting blood from their necks, and Seymour
carefully plucked Alota from the middle one's hands before they fell to the
floor in a heap.
Dai appeared behind them. "I'm sick of these bloody Armadillos I am!" He said.
"I'm an engineer see? Not a bloody Armadillo wrestler!"
"Sorry Mr ... Welshman." Said Seymour, forgetting his first name. "I'm
appreciative of everything you've done so far."
Dai nodded.
"So let's go home!" Said Seymour.
"Woah woah woah." Said the Queen. "You heard what those guards said, there's a
doorway to the Karangeth dimension on floor 388."
Seymour shrugged. "So?"
"So aren't you curious about what they're doing? About why they wanted Alota in
the first place?"
"No. I just want to go home and have a sherry." Seymour admitted.
"What about Jenny?"
"Who?"
"Alota's mother!!"
"Oh yes. I'm sure she's fine. She's living happily in that other dimension."
"Don't you want to pop by and tell her that Alota is okay." Said Brittany.
"look at her tiny little hands. And her bright blue eyes!" Seymour said, playing
with his daughter.
"Cute." Said Brittany, but didn't mean it. "Okay come with me."
"Where?"
"The exit."
Brittany lead them to a lift shaft and pressed the button for floor 388.

Who: Seymour, Brittany and Dai
Where: Portal room, Floor 388, TransMed building
When: After an elevator ride
Seymour was so busy blowing raspberries on Alota's tummy that he didn't notice
Queen Brittany lead him straight up to floor 388, and into a chamber viewing the
Karangeth portal.
"I promise Alota I'll never leave you again." Seymour whispered to his daughter
in his arms. "You're – What the goodness gracious is that?!" he shouted, looking
through the window at the portal.
"Shh! Keep your voice down." Said Brittany, and pulled him away from the window.
But Seymour couldn't help it. He pressed his face up against the window which
looked down onto a large laboratory floor, most of which was taken up with
computers and equipment. On the far wall was a wormhole, a gateway of swirling
crimson colours just like the ones that the Armadillos had created.
"So they finally created a stable wormhole?" Seymour whispered back.
"Aye" Came a familiar voice. It was Professor Hasenbeker, the scientist who had
tried to experiment on them earlier and give them Haemorrhoids. The Professor
walked into the room they were in and closed the door.
"You're not going to report us are you?" Seymour worriedly said.
"No, no. And I'm not going to try to arrest you either, I'm too old for heroics,
and TransMed haven't given me my yearly bonus so I'm not indebted to them right
now."
Seymour nodded. Dr Hasenbeker walked over to the glass and looked down into the
lab.
"Professor... why do TransMed want to get to the 'Karangeth' universe?"
"Ah!" he said, waggling a finger. "This is out long term goal. A lot of things
depend on it!"
"Yes. So why?" Asked Seymour.
"Because..."
"Yes?" Asked Brittany.
"...we wanted to get to the Karangeth universe because..." He scratched his
head. "I forgot."
Seymour breathed out deeply. "You kidnapped my poor baby, and made me miss a
huge chunk of her childhood, subjected her to horrible experiments, and you
FORGOT?!" Seymour fumed.
"Oh, no. It was because someone was paying us lots of money."
"Who?" Brittany asked.
"Nobody was ever certain. A man. An important man, head of a big corporation."
Seymour scratched his head. "Could you be more specific?"
Dr Hasenbeker shrugged. "He wanted to get to the Karangeth universe. Apparently
people from there can see the future."
Seymour nodded, everything Jenny had told him had come true, it was obvious that
she could see the future. In the wrong hands, this could be a very powerful
weapon.
"So you finally made a stable wormhole did you?" Asked Dai, curiously interested
in the technology applied.
"Yes. We originally used Armadillos modified with Karangeth-38- I mean your
daughter's DNA. But then we realised the Armadillos were too unstable. So we
used rabbits."
"So that's a rabbit hole!" Said Brittany.
"Yes! Stands the reason then doesn't it." Said Dr Hasenbeker.
"you should have used worms from the start!" Seymour joked. There was an awkward
silence. "You know... to make worm-holes!" He laughed, but Dr Hasenbeker's face
was deadly serious.
"Don't be stupid." He said aggressively.
"Oh but rabbits make sense do they?" Seymour muttered sarcastically.
Some commotion started from down in the lab. The scientists made way for a team
of soldiers who lined up in front of the wormhole. They wore full combat gear,
and were armed to the teeth.
"Assault team." Said Dr Hasenbeker. "They're going through the wormhole."
Alota started to clap her chubby little hands together in excitement. "Yes yes,
that's a good girl." Seymour said absent-mindedly, whilst focussing on the
laboratory below.
What he didn't realise however was that every time Alota clapped, the space
between her hands seemed to warp and spark with crimson red sparks. Seymour was
too busy looking through the glass to notice.
"Erm, Seymour..." Said Brittany as she noticed the space warping around the
small child's fingertips.
"She's burrowing!" Said Dr Hasenbeker.
Seymour noticed, and quickly pushed Alota out to arms length. "Good lord! This
isn't normal for a baby is it? The worst I thought I had to put up with was
vomiting!"
"Every Karangeth has the ability to create a wormhole back to her own
dimension." Said Dr Hasenbeker.
"Can you get her to stop? I don't want to go back there!" Seymour said.
A wormhole grew exponentially from baby Alota's hands and encompassed them,
father and child.
