Chris: \'Party time\'

Who: Chris & Rosette
When: After Rosette walked into Chris' office
Where: Various places in the ship, starting with the aforementioned office
<Snip>
Passing the Armoury, Rosette stopped for a moment, and grabbed a pistol, using
several different methods of diplomacy, intimidation and other charms (wink
wink, nudge nudge) to get one without being an official member of the crew. She
arrived at the Security office in just a few minutes, and stood in front of
Chris' Desk.
"Chris... uhh.. Sir. Is there anything I can do to help?" she asked, hoping she
was going to get a chance to save the Dwarf. She gave a quick, although
half-assed salute, which she thought would be more than enough given she wasn't
an officer at all.
<End Snip>
"Yes, you can tell me why about a third of my security force managed to get
themselves killed or badly injured trying to report to battlestations on time."
asked Chris, a bemused look on his face.
"Well...er...stairs are dangerous." replied Rosette, resisting the urge to
laugh.
"Seriously, I have, or rather, HAD a staff of 50 people, 16 of them are now dead
or dying. The Space Corps do train people to use stairs now right? Is it really
that hard?" said Chris before doubling up laughing. "God I'm a horrible man.
Right, you know what you're doing, you're no longer liable to kill any more of
my seemingly incompetant men, to cut a long story short, I want you in my
department. Consider yourself having earned a field comission at the rank of
ensign. It's just a trial, obviously, if you do well, then maybe you'll end up
with a rank of Lieutenant. Can't promise anything though. Is that all perfectly
clear and alright with you?"
"Yes sir, thank you for the opportunity sir." she replied sheepishly.
"Two sirs in one sentence? Seriously?" he laughed. "I like being called sir, I
like the power it instills in me. I'm not a wonderful boss by any stretch of the
imagination, but I will be your boss for the forseeable future since Jed and Jay
both agreed that I know what I'm doing, coupled with the fact that it's bloody
difficult to kill me. Call me Chris if you want, just throw in a sir from time
to time, it brightens up my day. Now, we need to prepare for boarding parties
instead of chatting about how much I love power. I see you're already armed,
excellent, however, when we're expecting boarding parties, we use rifles now."
Chris walked into the armoury as they passed it, having walked down from the
security office. He threw Rosette a rifle which she caught expertly, and walked
out with his hand wrapped firmly around the hilt of his GunBlade.
"Correction, everybody except me uses rifles now. Nice catch, you'd make a fair
cricketer. Holly, what's the status on the away team? They left that crappy ship
yet?" he asked the blank display screen.
"Which crappy ship?" asked Holly, looking puzzled.
"The one next to the giant supernova you tit."
"Oh, that one. Haven't left it yet but they shouldn't be too long now eh?"
"Keep me posted mate" said Chris, walking down the corridor away from the
monitor.
"Oh well you have a nice day too." said Holly, before vanishing from the screen.
"Oi, come back here!" said Chris, Holly reappeared. "Maybe up the situation to
the next level in the drill, yeah? Preferably have them shoot at us in the
not-too-distant future." he added, before walking off again, turning to Rosette
to say "You heard none of that, kapiche?"
The ship rocked as though they were being attacked. "Nice one, Hol." muttered
Chris.
"Command Centre to Harris" the shipwide speaker warbled, until Chris hit a
button near to him.
"Harris here."
"We're being fired upon sir, we're not sure what to do!"
"Could you, I dunno, fire back?" suggested Rosette
"Excellent plan ma'am! Command centre out."
"I can see why you like the power, Chris, but sheesh, at least you've never been
called ma'am!"
"Touche. I suppose you haven't read the security manuals?"
"Should I have?" Rosette asked quietly.
"Probably but I don't care, on the job training works much better anyway. Stop
worrying. Lets go inspect whoever managed to get to their post alive."
They passed through the external decks of ths ship as quickly as possible,
running all the way, checking that there were defensive teams placed at every
external entry point, and to check the wormhole drive was guarded, as well as
the main CPU.
"Jay better get back here soon, I don't want to start a fake world war four for
them to return to and panic. What the hell - Holly, take it to the next level
please mate, holographic boarding parties, make sure they can't ACTUALLY kill
anyone, and make sure they are ACTUALLY Krylon, unlike the last time when you
got us boarded by a load of holographic Klingons that murdered about ten of our
best men."
"I'll tell you what I said last time, I'm not infallable, I make mistakes. Stop
putting pressure on me and I'm sure I'll do much better this time. And it
could've been worse, it could've been the borg, that would've been a pain in the
ass for you."
"Stop watching re-runs of star trek and do your damn job." chuckled Chris,
before he turned to Rosette, "It's time we went to enjoy the fruits of my labour
and party."
Rosette took party to mean kill innocent holograms, but didn't bat an eyelid
because she preferred Chris' idea of on the job training, and followed him to
where the mass fight was now ensuing.
<Tag SMAndy or anyone really>
OOC: I'm off to the Hilton for three nights with my very hot girlfriend. Anybody
who disturbs me (Except you, SMAndy, you know I love you too) will be met with a
very pissed off Christopher. I jest, just letting you know, I'll be back on
tuesday. Please nobody call unless someone is dying. To quote Grey's Anatomy -
"The dying person better not be dead when I get there. Not only would you have
killed someone, you would have woken me for no good reason."
