*ACTION* Jay-pocalypse now.

Who: Jay and a mysterious assailant
Where: In the core of the Hymenoptera Hive
When: Right after Efof was knocked out.

“I’m afraid I can’t let you do that Captain.” Said Jay Chrysler. He stood over his target, who was still crouched on the ground next to the bomb and yanked the katana from the bomb’s casing, sparks following it.
“You…” Jay said, looking up at Efof’s attacker, “But…you’re dead…you HAVE TO BE DEAD!”
“Well yes..” replied Evil Jay, “I was dead. Quite convincingly too, I have to hand it to you, crashing the Blue Dwarf into my flagship was a pretty good way of guaranteeing the job was done the first time around, more fool me for letting your dead wife do it a second time….I had hoped you’d been killed in the explosion too, but never mind, it just means I get to do it myself!”
“How can you be here?” Jay asked, as he shuffled backwards across the floor.
“You should know better than anyone” Evil Jay “…sit still please…” he kicked Jay in the face as Jay tried to shuffle away, knocking Jay flat on his back. “I, or rather, the original ‘me’ was connected to the hive mind. After you killed me, my mind was left dormant within the hive – as you are no doubt aware I took over your body after you were connected to the hive and blew up the earth and all that…I really do wish you hadn’t gone back in time and undone all my hard work, it was very frustrating..”
“Get to the point” Jay replied, wiping blood from his nose.
“The point is, even after you took back your body, I was still in the hive. So long as she exists” he pointed to the Queen “I will exist, all it took was a tiny piece of your DNA that we took from you when our agents infiltrated your ship and voila! A clone body is born!”
“And now?” Jay said “You’re gonna lead the ‘bugs to take over the galaxy again are you? Please, even if you kill me here, the rest of my crew won’t rest until you’re stopped…haven’t you learned by now? The Blue Dwarf crew NEVER lose….”
“Please. They’re only in this region of space because of you, the minute you’re dead they’ll all go back to their pathetic lives…until they’re extinguished at least.”
He raised his sword, and pointed it downward so that it’s sharpened tip was pointed at Jay’s throat.
“I would love to prolong this….” Evil Jay said “To see you suffer as I kill you slowly and painfully…but I’m afraid I can’t take any chances this time..you’ve proven yourself much too bothersome in the past.”
“You talk too much” Jay said as he threw a handful of sand, scooped off the chamber floor into Evil Jays eyes, momentarily blinding him, Jay jumped to his feet, kicking Evil Jay in the chest as he did so, making him drop his sword. Jay ran around his counterpart, and skidded to the ground near Efof, and started slapping him in the face “Efof, come on man, wake up, we’ve gotta get outta here…”
Out of the corner of his eye he saw Evil Jay scoop to pick up his sword from the floor, so Jay grabbed one of the rifles Efof had dropped and aimed it at his duplicate, a clicking noise told him that he’d picked up the rifle that Efof hadn’t yet reloaded. He reached for the other one, but he was too late, and Evil Jay’s foot came smashing down on the back of Jay’s hand, before Jay had even had time to scream, Evil Jay grabbed him by the collar, lifted his foot from his hand and hurled Jay effortlessly across the room where he smashed into a rock and slumped to the ground.
“I really wish you hadn’t done that!” Evil Jay snarled “Now my eyes are watering!”
Jay groggily lifted himself off the ground and noticed something ahead, a thin membrane covered one of the ground-level tunnel entrances and Jay could just about see through it into what lie beyond. He mustered all his strength, and dashed, as fast as he could across the ground and burst through the membrane into a Hymenoptera shuttle bay. He looked around quickly, trying to find something, anything, that he could use as a weapon.
The room was filled with, mostly, Hymenoptera support craft, nothing that would be of any use – Amber was the only human who’d ever been able to fly Hymenoptera ships, but there was something different, Jay ducked under a Scorpion class fighter, and emerged the other side to see what it was. It was an Earth ship, resembling a Starbug, it had been modified with some Hymenopteran weaponry, but it was still unmistakeably an earth ship.
“Of course!” thought Jay “It’s HIS personal shuttle! He think’s he’s better than bugs, he’s too arrogant to use one of their ships!”
He yanked opened a tools locker on the outside of the ship and grabbed the first thing he found, a plasma cutter…it was better than nothing.
Evil Jay burst through the membrane into the hangar. Jay quickly clambered onto the top of the Scorpion fighter he’d scrambled under before and ran across the dorsal hull, leaping off the top of it and kicking out, landed on Evil Jay, sending him tumbling to the floor, Evil Jay dropped his sword again, but Jay also dropped his Plasma cutter in the impact, so now, straddling his doppelganger and pinning him to the ground, he grabbed him by the collar and smashed his head into the hard ground repeatedly, Evil Jay flailed around for a few seconds, but managed to get his bearings enough that he could deliver a blow to the side of Jay’s head, knocking him off him and sending the Captain rolling across the floor.
Evil Jay got to his feet, but Jay was lucky enough to have landed near to the dropped Plasma cutter. He reached for it, only for it to be shot away from him as he stretched to reach it.
He looked back over his shoulder, Evil Jay had grabbed Efof’s other rifle and now held it one handed, aimed right at Jay’s forehead.
“The gun is such a clumsy weapon..” Evil Jay mused “It has no style, no elegance….I do loathe them…but…we need to to make the best of a bad situa….”
*THWOCK*
Evil Jay slumped to the ground. Efof stood behind him, clutching the second rifle all four arms.
“Efof…” Jay said “I never thought I’d say this but you’re my hero!”
Jay struggled to his feet, and limped back through the membrane into the Queens chamber.
“We came so close..” he said to Efof
“It can’t be used?” Efof asked
“The timers busted…it’d have to be detonated manually……”
“Hopefully Rosette will get her bomb in place…” Efof said
Jay said nothing. He just stared at the bomb.
“Captain?”
“No.” Jay said “No, we can’t leave this to ‘hope’. We came here to do a job, and we’re gonna do it…”
“Captain…what are you…”
“Efof…they took your world from you too, everything you knew and loved taken by them….I can’t let them do that to anyone else…”
“But you said…”
“I know what I said, it has to be detonated manually….yes, Rosette or one of the other teams might make it through, but we’re herenow…we’ve never had a better chance…”
Jay walked over to the bomb. “Efof, theres a shuttle through there that you’ll be able to fly…get out of here, and pick up as many of our people off the surface as you can..”
“What are you…”
“just go…I’ll give you 10 minutes…”
Efof nodded, and turned to walk away before stopping and looking back at Jay “Captain…for what it’s worth…thanks.”
Jay nodded, and Efof left.
Jay listened as the shuttle’s thrusters kicked in, and it took off.
“…so this is it then…” Jay said as he slumped down next to the bomb…and waited
Ten minutes later, his watch beeped reminding him it was time.
He turned to the bomb and removed the casing from it’s detonation controls, all he had to do was switch a couple of wires and it was all over, he swallowed hard, and using a key, clumsily cut through the wires, wired the first in place.
As he was about to attach the second, which would detonate the bomb however, he felt a bullet enter his back.
He watched as it burst out of his chest on the other side, and blood filled his throat.
“I would have waited an eternity for this…” Evil Jay said, Efof’s rifle, that he had procured earlier smoking. He walked over to Jay, the rifle trained at Jay’s head the whole time “It’s over Chrysler…”
“NEVER!” said Jay, and with a last ounce of strength, swung round hard, connecting a double handed punch with Evil Jay’s jaw, knocking him backwards and to the floor.
Dazed, Evil jay began to climb back to his feet and reach once more for the gun, Jay, spun around and reached for the last remaining wire and……

Everything went dark.

The planet shook, as the nuclear bomb detonated at it’s core. The tunnel entrances of the hive flamed as the explosion moved along the tunnels, escaping anywhere it could like an erupting volcano.
Across the surface of the planet, and in the space above it, their hive mind gone, the Hymenoptera just….stopped. Across the galaxy, Hymenoptera simply ceased to be.
Their ships shut down and drifted, their soldiers fell, their queen, the very core of their hive mind was gone, and with it, so were they.

The Hymenoptera race, were gone.

Jay opened his eyes.
The sun shone brightly down on them, so he had to squint to see, in front of him stood an attractive woman, with long blonde hair.
“Hello Jay!” she said
“Who…where am I?”
“My name is Annie.” She said “This, is one of the many, many dimensions that make up the multiverse.”
“Why am I here?”
“This is the dimension where the good people come, when their mortal life is over…”
“You mean I’m dead? This is..heaven?”
“It’s had many names over the millennia…” Annie said “But yes, Heaven is acceptable, and yes, you’re dead, that is to say, your previous life is over”
Jay looked around, everything was white, except for a tall golden gate, that swung open.
“They’re all there Jay, waiting for you…”
Jay looked through the gate, beyond it he could see Vanessa, Jayne, Phil, Dean, Tara, Katrina, Alota…that was gonna be awkward…everyone he had ever loved and lost was there, standing in a lush green field, in the centre of which stood a tall tree.
Jay looked back at Annie, and wiped a tear from his eye and stepped through the gate.
He hugged each of his friends and family as they greeted him.

“Well guys…” he said, “Let’s see what this world has to offer…”

And with that, the group began walking off into the distance until Annie could see them no more…..

The End

<OOC:

Well guys. That, was without question the hardest post I’ve ever had to write. I don’t know how many of you saw it coming earlier in the storyline, but this will be my last Blue Dwarf post – at least for the foreseeable future. I don’t think it’s any secret that I’ve been struggling to find time to post in recent months, probably longer. Life is moving quickly, with it becoming harder and harder to fit everything that I want to do in, and in July, I’ll be becoming a father for the first time. As excited about this as I am, I’m also extremely anxious, and I know that I’m going to find it even harder to find time for Blue Dwarf, so it seems only fair that I leave.
It was a very hard decision to make. I’ve been a member of Blue Dwarf now for over ten years, and have been a moderator for nearly all of that time. It’s been a huge part of my life, (I’ve been a member for almost a third of my life in fact) but it is simply time to move on. We see it often, where members leave without ever saying goodbye, and their character go forgotten. I couldn’t do that, I had to give my characters, especially Jay, a proper send off. Lets face it, he was never going to die peacefully in his jeep…I mean sleep.

It’s been great fun guys, and I want to thank each and everyone of you, and all past members for making it such a great experience. I wouldn’t have been her for a decade if it wasn’t for all of you.

To Onion, Becca, Smandy, JHXMT, Chris Kentlea, Chris Harris, (and others I’m sure) I’ve known you guys for years now, longer than many of the people I know in real life (including my wife) and even though I’ve never met any of you in the flesh, I truly value the friendships we’ve built over the years, I especially want to thank Onion, as without him there would never have been an opportunity for me to get to know any of you.

This all said, I couldn’t cut Blue Dwarf out of my life completely, I will remain on board as a member, just so posts can still find their way to my inbox and I can read them when I get a free minute, but I will of course, relinquish my moderator powers, and to all of you, my email and facebook inboxes are always open (andy.longman@...)

Who knows, I might one day grace your inboxes with a post again yet, but, if not, I hope you’ll all remember me, and of course, Jay.

Anyway, I’m getting emotional now, so I’d better sign off.

Stay Frosty guys. Love you all.

Andy/ Jay
