"Katrina, you don't need to clean up my mess! I can do it..."
Jumping back from White Wolf's outburst, Katrina watched as Coffey and Tara
tried to restrain him.
"Tara, can you give me a hand? We need to start an IV drip and give him some
sedatives immediately! He's one patient who won't stay down, Tiny was barely
able to prevent him from getting off the stretcher several times on the way
up here."
"Is he gonna be okay?" Katrina asked Tara when they'd finally gotten the
sedatives in White Wolf.
Tara looked down at the all-purpose space hamster. He was mumbling something.
Katrina could have sworn she heard him start to sing a Beach Boys song.
"He should be," Tara answered. "He's pretty banged up, but nothing looks too
serious."
"You know, I once had a hamster that looked a lot like White," Katrina said.
"I called him Fluffy Pants."
Tara grinned. "Fluffy Pants?"
"Hey, I was four!" Katrina protested.
"Sure you were," Tara replied.
