Stemming the tide of insanity

Who: Cerebrum
Where: Psychiatric division
When: A while after Cerebrum arrived at the psychiatric offices
Cerebrum was listening to his patient, nodding his head occasionally
and typing in a psych-profile on his (stolen) computer. He had
planned to transfer all of the crew's psych-profiles to the computer,
but discovered that it didn't have the memory capacity, so he was
transfering the profiles to high-capacity storage discs after he
wrote them.
From what he could gather, the crewmember had tried to shove an
engineering ensign out of an airlock. The usual motives were
immediately eliminated as the patient was not the next in line for
promotion to the ensign's position.
As the crewmember finished his recition, Cerebrum turned to him. "So
what you're saying is that all of your problems stem from this
person?"
"Yes," said the crewmember, "he's the source of all the ill in the
universe. He must be eliminated. Once he dies, the universe will be a
better place."
"Right. Your problem is that you're suffering from space madness 74C.
It can be cured by the elimination of all non-water fluids from your
diet, eighteen hours in a sensory deprivation tank, two pills of
Vontium thirty with each mill and the donation of eight hundred
dollarpounds to your psychiatrist. I've already set up the transfer
pad, you just have to put your thumb right here and tap in your bank
code."
"I won't. You're out to get me, aren't you? You're all out to get me!"
"Paranoia too. Make that four pills of Vontium thirty and two pills
of Balrtian six hundred."
"I'll get you and that ensign if it's the last thing I do!"
Cerebrum became aware that the patient wasn't paying attention. He
decided to try psychiatrist-patient technique number seventy-four and
play along. "Look, just tap in your bank code on the smegging pad and
take the pills. Then you'll be allowed to kill the ensign."
"Okay," the patient said, suddenly calm and orderly, and punched in
his code, making Cerebrum eight hundred dollarpounds richer.
Note to self, thought Cerebrum, add very gullible and malleable to
psych-profile. Then he handed two bottles over to the patient and
signalled to the guards to take him back to his cell.
After the patient was escorted out, and before the next one arrived,
Cerebrum spent the time trying to crack the password on Dr Keto's
files on the computer, trying to aim for the ones that concerning
medi-bay finances, and/or information that could be used for
blackmail.
