Where's a plumber when you need one?

Where: The Promenade
Who: Zack, Cubie, and a mess of Eniram
When: Haven't replaced the watch yet
Zack noticed the sloshing settled down around him and he decided
to check out his situation. Slowly lifting his head out of the
water, he opened one eye.
And got salt-water in it. "Ow! Smeg, that stings!"
He rubbed his eyes savagely until the stinging went away. Then
he opened them again. Several blurry objects loomed over him. He'd
obviously rubbed his eyes too hard. Blinking, he smiled up at
them. "So. Did we fend off those fish fellows?"
"Surrender or Die!" screamed one of the blurs.
Zack wilted. "Guess not." Slowly he raised his hands over his
head.
The blur coagulated into an Eniram with a nasty spear held an
inch from Zack's nose. He looked tired and battered, covered with
red blood and oozing green. He also looked like he wasn't in the
mood for any silliness. That suited Zack just fine, as he was fresh
out of silliness.
"Zack, are you all right?"
Zack looked around, almost lopping his nose off on the tip of
the spear. "Cubie? Where are you?"
Her voice came from inside a ring of Eniram soldiers. "I'm in
here! I was fighting them off when Harris pulled back with the
security personnel! I'm resting for a minute while they stry to
stick all sorts of sharp things through me!"
The Eniram menacing Zack smiled. "Then surrender or Zack dies!"
Cubie said something not suitable for this list.
Zack rose to his feet, his hands still up by his ears. He
smiled suddenly. "So, you've conquered the Promenade. Would anyone
care for a drink before you conquer anything else?"
The Eniram frowned. "A drink?"
Zack shrugged. "Sure. To celebrate your victory." He felt
guilty as he said this. He saw a large number of dead security
officers among the floating bodies, but eulogizing them wasn't going
to bring them back or save his neck. "You battled one of the meanest
security teams ever, and drove them off. That's worth at least a
hearty toast."
The Eniram snarled. "You thoughtless swine! Many of our best
people died in this battle!"
Zack nodded slowly. "Ah. A wake, then. Still, Parrotts is up
to the task. Come with me."
He started to turn, when the Eniram slammed his spear into
Zack's chest. The salesman-turned-barkeep stared at the spear
sticking out of his chest, horrified. The spear had gone right
through Cubie's controller.
"Commander, the Aeron woman has disappeared!"
"Find her! She must pay for the death she has wrought!"
Zack dropped to his knees, amazingly free of pain. "Cubie!"
Then he fell backwards into the water with a splash, the spear
sticking up like a flagpole. He closed his eyes and waited for the
end.
