Time to Drive

Who: Canazza, Alota, Jay
Where: Time drive research room thingy
When: Shortly after the following snip...
<snip>
"RUSTLE!! RUSTLE!!" "What?" Alota and Jay asked in unison Canazza was madly jumping around and pointing Alota and Jay rushed over to see what he had found. It was a device, about the size of a playsation 2, that had an interface to connect to a standard navi-comp."Well..well well.." Alota said "Phil" Jay said into his comm, "We've found it"
</snip>
Jay was examining the device, it was black and slightly rough to the touch, there was a smooth rectangular panel on one of the long thin sides, about one inch long by a half inch, it was red tinted. Next to it, the words 'Space/Time Universal Free Form Electron Deliverance' were written underneath the acronym 'S.T.U.F.F.E.D. Drive'*.
Apart from the navicomp connectors at the back which, on closer examination, was connected to a small model starbug,there was nothing else on it.
"There must be something else," Jay said to Alota, who was currently reading through the 3 page manual laying out on the desk.
"there is" she said, "A remote control"
"If it need a remote control, what does it need the navicomp for?"
*explanitory rustle*
before Jay could ask, Alota said "It needs to know the ship's dimensions, it draws power from the ship and so it'll only work on Space corp authorised ships, which is presumably why the bugs haven't managed to rig it up to their ships yet"
Canazza was lumbering** around the lab, his branches scraping the roof of the lab.
He had been used to being too tall to fit in some rooms, but atleast as a human he could duck. But now he was going bald because of it.
Before he could rustle a complaint he was tipping forwards and falling headlong towards the ground.
"TIMBER" Jay joked, rushing over to help him back up.
Canazza looked down to see exactly what it was he had tripped up on.
It was a small black box, same colour and design as the Time Drive, except it had a shiny pad on the top and a button at the bottom.
"I think we found the remote" Jay said
"There should be a button on it, Press it" Jay did so, and the black shiny pad lit up into a colourful display
"Welcome to Windows 2101 for Experimental Government Projects" Jay read aloud,
*angry rustle*
"what did he say?"
"He said 'They used an old version, throw it away' "
"Engineers" Jay grunted, the control fascia loaded, it had three boxes, 'current date, previous date and Destination' along with a number of other option menus.
Jay entered in time co-ordinates for 1 minute in the future and activated it.
the starbug and time drive disappeared with a 'plip'
"that was boring" he said, a minute later it pliped back into existance***, "Let's try it again"
Jay pressed a few other buttons, this time, lighting bolts flew out, striking nearby metal objects, before it pliped out of existence
"wow," said Alota, "what did you do there?"
"one of the options was funky visual effect" he said, as the model pliped back into existence again with all the aforementioned lightning, burning a few leaves off Canazza's already balding upper branches.
"Let's get this back to the others"
