A big explosion

"Move in an orderly, single file," ordered Cerebrum, talking through a
megaphone. "Stick with your budy, and once on board the shuttle, sound off in
alphabetical order."
The rescued marines headed through the shuttle bay on the Hymnoptera prison
ship. Damn, but I'm good, Cerebrum thought. Not only did I rescue all the ASS
prisoners, I rescued all the Marine prisoners. He then gestured at Smith and
Smith.
"Take a look at this," he said, leading them through the halls filled with
Hymnoptera corpses, to the central hive-node on that praticular ship.
"See that node, I've made some extensive calculations, and what with the
present star alignment, today is a one in a million opportunity. I have placed
a backpack of explosives at the base, and if I am correct, detonating it will
set off a chain reaction in the hive-mind of the Hymnoptera, killing every one
in the Universe!"
"Uh, sir-" Mr. Smith started to say.
"Silence! I will not have my moment of glory ruined by chatter from my
flunkies!" Cerebrum cried, then pressed the big red button on the detonator.
Back on the JMC Blue Dwarf
All was silent, then a fireball tore off the door to the psychiatric offices
and embedded it in the wall on the opposite side of the hall.
Back on the Hymnoptera prison ship
"Why isn't it blowing up?" Cerebrum demaned.
Mr. Smith leaned forward and whispered in Cerebrum's ear.
"You left the explosives behind!? You idiots!" Cerebrum shouted.
