An Upgrade...
Jack had been sat at a hovertable, with several pint glasses, and only 1
barrel of beer left, he had a bag full of Aeronian money, he had no idea how
much, but he was pretty sure he had enough to upgrade his sword to a laser
edge... he had stopped counting after he got enough. He made his way to the
weapons lockup, with his sword and large amounts of money, walking through
the door, he found the first person that looked important.
"excuse me, how would i go about upgrading a weapon here?" he inquired, an
amount of excitement in his voice.
"upgrading? what sort of weapon is it that you wish to upgrade sir?" replied
the man in a posh voice, posh enough to rival Seymour.
"a sword" said jack plainly, a smile creeping over his face.
"ahh, right this way sir" He began to walk off, Jack kept up easily, thry
rounded corner after corner before they started hearing sounds of metalwork.
As a Large door appeared round one corner, the man stopped. "its just
through there, the other workers will be able to help you from now on." he
said as he walked off the way he came. Jack stepped through the large
doors, where he was met by several men, and one woman, who was holding a
welding torch. They all knew exactly what Jack was here for and grappled at
his blade, which unfortunately for them, required a certain grip to allow it
to be oulled from the sheath. Jack waited until they lost the excitement,
and pulled it out himself.
"how much would it cost, and how long would it take, to upgrade this to a
Laser edge sword, and 50 batteries, with a charging unit, configured to fit
a 3 prong socket?" said jack, very calmly, considering what was going
through his mind at that point, you don't want to know...
"well" he said, looking at the sword in such a way that Jack handed it over.
"a very fine sword you have here, it'll cost you about 700,000 Uct, a
discount because you've supplied your own sword." they said, turning to
their benches and working away for ages. Jack sat in the corner, looking up
every so often. Then, 2 hours later, just when he was nodding off, one of
the workers shouted "tada!!" waking jack up very quickly, he ran over to
them, where his sword, now painted matt black, was sat on the table, with a
pack attached to the top of the hilt, a nice small red button on its side,
perfectly placed to be able to push it with ease while holding it. He
picked it up, placed a small power pack into it, and puched the button. It
buzzed. "don't worry, thats only because this is a brand new pack, it needs
time to get going" said a worker, staring at it intently, smiling at his
latest creation.
The edge lit up a bright red for a split second, then dimmed down to a soft
glow, a very slight hum eminating from the hilt. Jack looked at it, and
handed over most of the money, he didn't have time to count it, so he just
emptied most of it, hoping it to be enough "keep the change" he said as
turned it off, sheathed it, and picked up his bag of power packs. He then
marched triumphantly out into the sunshine, which hurt his eyes. He looked
up to see the huge ship that was the blue dwarf.
