As Phil headed for the door, Keto glanced at the other two.
"Either of you want to tell me what's going on?" he asked, blinking.
"You! You're under arrest!" snapped Seymour, pointing a wavering
finger at Keto, "You're the murderer and you've been washing your
clothes to prove it!"
"No, I've been washing my clothes to get them clean," pointed out
Keto, gesturing to the box of Faz washing powder under one arm, "What
do you mean I'm the murderer?"
"Jasmine wasn't shot, Keto," interjected Tara, as Seymour began to
look like he was going to explode, "She was stabbed. That's why
there weren't any bullets left inside her."
"What?" frowned Keto, "Are you sure?"
"Absolutely," nodded Tara, pulling the body out again. Seymour
turned away with a gagging sound as Keto put his laundry down and
headed over to where Tara was pointing out the wounds, "Look, the
wounds are elongated, not circular. If they'd been made by a gunshot
they'd be similar all over."
Keto stared at the body for a moment, pale-faced. Then, clearing
his throat, he said quietly, "They didn't look like that before."
"What?" asked Tara. Even Seymour turned back to look, trying to
keep his eyes on Keto instead of the dead body.
"When I examined the body on the cargo deck, those wounds didn't
look anything like that," said Keto, shaking his head slowly and
still staring at the body, "It's as if they've begun to...heal up."
"How can they heal up? She's *dead*!" snapped Seymour, "And you're
not THAT good of a doctor!"
"I have no idea," said Keto, beginning to frown, "We'll have to
examine this further. Could one of you give me a hand getting the
body back up to the medibay? We need to run some tests."
"I, uh, have an urgent appointment. Elsewhere. Now," said Seymour
quickly, making a beeline for the door. Keto sighed, and pulled over
a morgue trolley.
"Bodies don't just heal up after they've been killed," said Tara
quietly, "What's going on?"
"I don't know," replied Keto as they lifted the corpse onto the
trolley, "But I think we should be careful who we mention this to.
Dead bodies getting better isn't usually a good thing for people to
hear."
With that, they began to wheel the trolley towards the door and
back to the medibay.
