**Action** "The final battle"
What: Blue Dwarf
Where: Deep in Hymenoptera territory - still
The Blue Dwarf still drifted peacefully in dangerous territory, they
were so close to escaping now that they had the wormhole drive. But
the Blue Dwarf's technicians were so inept at installing the drive
that the only man who knew what he had been doing was Kotchanksi- and
he was in the brig. And as he was normally just as (if not more)
inept as the rest of the technicians and engineers, nobody would have
known that the fate of the BlueDwarf rested in his hands.
***Space around the Dwarf***
The Space Eagle sped past on its routine patrol. In the cockpit Efof
banged his head frantically to some 80's europop blaring out from his
headphones while driving with one hand, spilling a bag or doritos
around with another, dancing with another and reading 'Nuts' upside
down with another.
"Hello Efof? Come in Efof!" Came Alotas voice from the radio. She
repeated a few times before he answered.
"Allo?" He answered. "yes...yes... Everything's fine, nothing to
worry about!" He said without even looking up at the window.
He continued like this for a while, steering absent mindedly with one
hand until a light from outside caught his eye. A glowing pulse flew
straight over the Space Eagle.
He looked up to see something that shocked him so much he dropped the
rest of the Doritos and the magazine on the floor and started
steering with all four hands.
"Efof to base Efof to base! We have a lot of snot inbound!"
"Please repeat Efof, it sounded like you said... 'snot'?" came the
reply, it was a low level communications officer.
"Yes, erm, thats right... on the radar?"
"You sneezed on the radar? But your nose isn't even on your head, how
did you even manage that?"
"No....bogies, bogies! We have a lot of bogies inbound!"
"That makes sense, well done.... oh shit!"
"No- bogies! A big fleet of Hymenoptera, a huge massive wall of them,
big destroyers, support craft, mobile hives the lot! Theres even a
massive ship that looks like a scorpion... if a scorpion swapped the
sting in its tale for a V8 solar system killer!"
"Ok sending support ships."
"No, don't send support ships!" Said Efof frantically driving. "I'm
coming back to the Dwarf, we can't win these guys we have no chance!"
"Ok, in that case we're sealing all doors, you have 20 seconds to get
back."
"No, thats not fair! You...." it turned to static.
The Space Eagle lurched forward as it was hit by a big splodge of
gunk from the rear. Efof could see they were firing something organic
at him, another blob hit and it leaked down his windscreen. It
started to sizzle and dissolve the glass.
He arrived at the Blue Dwarf just to see the blast doors shut on
every window. Luckily the Space Eagle was a fast ship, he gained a
few minutes ahead of the enemy fleet, although the gunk they had
fired at him was fast burning through his hull.
Now he had a problem, all the hangers were sealed. But luckily from
the last attack, the Blue Dwarf was so full of unrepaired holes that
he had to just pick one.
He picked a hole on one of the crew quarters deck, where Kotchanski
had crashed the replica fibreglass 'USS Enterprise'. Parts of which
were still hanging in tatterd threads off the hull.
Efof aimed his ship at the hole, it flew straight into the quarters
and stopped suddenly, jammed solid into the hole. With the force of
the sudden stop, Efof smashed straight through the windscreen of the
Space Eagle, out into the decompressed quarters, where he flew for
less than a second until the electronic exit doors opened up and he
fell through them, they slammed quickly shut behind him.
Efof groaned, stood up and dusted himself off. He was in a corridor,
funny to think that the doors behind him lead directly into open
space.
"Good job I wasn't wearing a seat belt!" he said. Then he remembered
what he was doing and ran towards the brig.

"Hello, is anyone there? can anyone hear me?" There was no
reply.... "can someone let me out so I can finnish repairing the
drive"
<end snip>
Efof could hear CK whining.
"Kotchanski! Did you finish the Wormhole drive, because we kinda need
it!"
"No I got arrested didnt I you plonker! I bet the other teckkies
can't figure it out either."
"Is it that complicated?"
"No, its because i've got part of it here! Let me out Efof and I can
finish it."
Efof looked around. "but thats...illegal.... I might
get...get....told off!"
The ship rocked.
"Whats going on?" Asked CK.
"The Hym are attacking again, thats why we need to get out of here."
"Let me out then!"
Efof bit his lip. "I'm not sure..." He hovered his hand above the
door release button for the brig. A jolt from a hymenoptera attack
made him fall onto it.
"Good man Efof!" CK said escaping.
"But....but it wasn't me! I dodn't mean to!"
"Don't worry brother, we'll both go down together!!"
Efof whimperd.

***In the Phoenix**
Jay Chrysler flew the Phoenix out of the flight deck's escape tunnel,
gunning one Hymenoptera fighter down immediately. On his right was
Dean in the Raven, they had both agreed to fight together to protect
the Dwarf, The Raven with its heavy artillary could take out the
massive motherships while Jay provided covering fire as the Raven
wasn't the most manouverable of ships.
"Deano can you see those big scorpion ships?" Jay said over the radio.
"No, never seen them before- they look like huge cannons!"
Just as he spoke, one of the scorpions fired at the Raven from miles
away. A long bolt of electricity like thunder knocked the Raven into
a spin. Dean straightened it out again.
"You okay mate?" Jay asked.
"Bloody hell, that thing's powerful, I feel like i've just been
smacked by the biggest kipper known to man!" came Dean's voice from
the radio.
"And the range!" Said Jay, "Its miles away! I think we need to take
it out!"
"Roger!" Said Dean, in a voice that gave away the big grin on his face

***Back on the BD***
Efof and CK made their way to Engineering where the wormhole drive
was. CK spent a few minutes tinkering with the device and added the
component he had with him.
"There! I think its done!" CK announced.
"Ok test it"
CK pulled a lever and nothing happened. "Dammit, I think the power
source isn't good enough! What would it take for everyone on Blue
Dwarf do go to the gym and start cycling at once?"
Efof looked out of the window. "Whatever you do, I think you better
hurry..."
"What is it?"
"You...er...better just hurry!"

***Outside, in the Phoenix***
"What the hell?" Said Jay as the massive Hymenoptera scorpion ship
still miles away glowed with electricity. It looked like an insect
building up a static charge between its antennae. Then another
identical ship next to it started to glow too, and another, and
another that they hadn't even noticed. The electricity on each
charged up so much that bolts of lightning spread between each,
making a chain of immence power.
"They're going to fire that at the Dwarf!" said Jay.
"we're too late!"

***Back on the BD***
"Ok! Thats it!" Said Callum. "This will work providing we have enough
power."
Efof bit his finger nails looking outside. "I think we should try it
anyway!"
"OK here goes... nothing's happening..... EFOF YOU'RE LEANING ON THE
OFF BUTTON!!"
"Oh sorry..."
There was an awkward moment of silence.
"....The powers not working" CK whispered.

***Outside, in the Phoenix***
Jay watched as the ships fired a massive long beam of electricity at
the Blue Dwarf, for a second that seemed like an eternity the Blue
Dwarf was pumped with a destructive amount of anergy that swirled
around its hull.
Jay felt his heart sink. Then he blinked as he saw an unknown flash
from the front of the Blue Dwarf, suddenly all the energy from the
Hymenoptera weapons was being drawn toward the Blue Dwarf's
ramscoops. A massive glowing wormhole appeared and slowly started to
suck their giant blue home through.
"Dean! Thats our ticket to leave... Dean?"
"You don't have to tell me twice, i'm in front of you!"
They followed the massive dwarfstar ship through the wormhole.
