After Nadine left the flight deck, Eric spoke up. "Now, the holograms
also have weapons. These won't kill us, and will only hurt a little.
Still, they are unpleasant and will knock you unconcious and will
mean that you have to sit out of the rest of the round."
"Are you sure they won't hurt too much?" Said an anonymous voice.
"Well, I didn't want to really test one out on myself, so I can't be
exact." Eric replied. "However, I am sure that the Captain will be
more painful than the effects of the weapons if you do get hit, as
some of you surely will."
"Yes." Alota responded. "There are a couple of promotions available,
and a good performance and team work may just be enough to influence
my decision. On the flip side, if you do really poorly, there is a
possibility for demotion."

there must have been no (or bad) guards posted as their services were
needed for the forthcoming battle :)
