The Great Escape II

<snip>
"Son of a...." said Chris before boosting the engines and flying straight
through the hangar door. He flew further into the space that lay before him,
looking, hunting for Jay....

Who: Chris
When: After "The Great Escape I"
Where: Space
For a long while, Chris sat, staring aimlessly out into the black starry
space around him, Mesmorized by its immensity. Now and then he glanced to
the navigation console and the radar to see if there was anything new for
him to view. He was slowly beginning to drift off as he sat there, the
quietness of the cockpit overwhelming him as his eyelids began to droop as
the autopilot guided him along.
Dreams were just beginning to form in his mind as a loud beep echoed from
the radar. Chris looked at it and decided to ignore it, but then
reconsidered and reluctantly turned his head back towards the radar. What he
saw would have scared most people, but not Chris, instead a wide smile
produced on Chris' face. Jay's ship was moving towards Earth, and in ten
minutes time, would be directly in his path. However, what he didnt know,
was the thing that would scare him, was currently circling Jay's ship like a
swarm of bees.
When he was finally within visual range of Jay's ship he saw the thing that
would scare him the most. Hymenoptera, millions and millions of them,
surrounded Jay's ship. They seemed unusually quiet, as though waiting to
strike. Then it hit him. There was no way that he would be able to get
through them to Jay's ship, he would have to create a diversion. But how was
he going to do it? He stood about as much chance of creating a diversion to
allow him to pass through the hymenoptera guarding Jay's ship as Germany did
of winning the first world war.
Then it hit him. He sat in his chair for a second before getting to his
feet. He went into the mid-section and opened the airlock, he then grabbed a
spare EVA suit and took it down to the small armoury that the ship had. He
attatched it to a fairly large rocket that would make a reasonably large
explosion. He set a time on it for two minutes and placed it in the
launcher. He quickly ran back up to the cockpit and hit the lauch button
before moving as far away from the EVA suit as fast as possible, and
deliberately missing the suit with a rear torpedo to attract the
hymenoptera's attention. This it did with a mild success, attracting a few
of the bugs towards it, and gradually, as more and more were overwhelmed by
curiosity, the number of bugs next to the ticking time-bomb increased.
Suddenly there was a bright light before the explosion came, many of the
hymenoptera closest to it were destroyed as the small shockwave fizzled out.
Many of the remaining hymenoptera were too confused to do anything, so they
simply remained where they were. This left Chris with a free flight to dock
with Jay's ship and attempt to reach the bridge.
Chris reached the ship and docked without furthere incident, it seemed that
Jay's bridge crew were preoccupied with other things besides stowaways. Upon
entering the hymenoptera ship's airlock, Chris glanced from side to side to
check that that coast was clear, before proceeding in a random direction and
hoping to find the right way to the bridge, where he presumed Jay would be
waiting.
He found the corridor leading to the bridge without much difficulty, and was
just coming up to the main entrance into the central plexus of goings on
about the hymenoptera ship, before trouble struck. Three hymenoptera
warriors presented themselved in front of the door. One made to strike him,
but quick thinking allowed Chris to dodge the blow and embed his gunblade in
the warrior's thigh, the bug let out a screech of pain, followed by three
more attempted blows at Chris' vital areas. The other two warriors moved to
join in. Chris turned to see them coming and roundhouse kicked one in the
face, though to very little effect. It shook off the blow before all three
closed in around him.
Suddenly out of no-where he found a new confidence and anger, swinging his
GunBlade like one possessed. The last two to join in the frenzy were soon
dissected into small chunks that even worms would find easy to digest. The
last one proved more difficult, and Chris and the warrior spent at least
five minutes exchanging blows, it was a surprise to Chris that nobody had
raised the alarm, but he was very thankful of it.
The Hymenoptera quickly turned it's head and presented Chris with a chance
as a door opened. He quickly worked his magic upon the last remaining
warrior and hid behind a large pile of Cargo as to his immense surprise, Jay
emerged from the opened door and walked to the bridge door, which sprung
open as he walked close to it.
Chris peeked out from his hiding place and looked both ways to ensure that
no more trouble was at foot. He smiled with immense relief as he saw clearly
that there were no more hymenoptera warriors to deal with. He stepped from
his hiding place and fully revealed himself. He sighed heavily and took a
deep breath before stepping up to the bridge door, which opened in front of
him just as it had done for Jay.
He quickly stepped inside as the door closed sharply.
"Well, well, well" said Chris, loudly and clearly as many heads, including
those of Amber and Jay turned towards him. Chris swung his GunBlade about
lazily, deliberately splattering the Bridge of the enemy with their own
warrior's blood.
"I guess the show's on isn't it Chrysler?" he said with an evil smile. "Dont
go easy on me Jay" he added, spitting and the feet of his former friend and
superior's feet. "You might regret it" he finished, raising his GunBlade to
Jay's chest.
"Face me Chrysler" he said angrily.
