Discretion Appreciated

"Dalen has been a welcoming place in all, and it is remarkable to see elves and orcs openly walking the streets, but my parents raised me to be cautious about letting people know exactly what I am, so I appreciate your discretion. There will always be those who maintain ancient prejudices and old blood feuds from times long past. Humans don't have as long memories, but they can be just as bad. By the way," she said, her voice becoming lighter again. "I wouldn't be so sure a demi-god wouldn't shop here. You have to have the greatest collection of oddities in this corner of the earth."

The shop keeper chuckled. "They don't call me Horo Inu for nothing. Been just about everywhere you can imagine. I enjoy getting this stuff even if I don't sell most of it. One day you may not even be able to walk through the shop."

"You may need to relocate to larger quarters," she said, with a laugh. "I've lived in the Two kingdoms my whole life and haven't travelled very far beyond them. My parents came to Verden almost a millennia ago from a place called Albion. Have you ever been there? It's an island of some kind in a great ocean. I've never seen an ocean." She looked around. "Do you have any sea shells? My grandmother told me that in some shells you can hear the waves." She picked up a nearby candle and breathed in its soothing vanilla scent. "There are just too many wonderful things I would buy here if I could. I am sure I shall become a faithful customer."
