An Unexpected Mood

"All right... Thank you..."

Gareth, who probably hadn't made too many decisions for himself in the past... however many years he had been a slave, was clearly waiting for Ceriden to take the lead. Thinking out loud, Ceriden murmured, "Hmm, so I think I will have our wraith scout ahead for us while we walk in a direction that is hopefully away from our enemies. Unfortunately, with all this excitement, I've completely forgotten which way is which."

After mentally attempting to replay the recent events that had transpired, Ceriden chose a direction that he thought was the direction they had originally been going in and began walking. He sent his wraith ahead of them to scout an arc in front of their path. Hopefully the wraith would find a small cave or something that he and Gareth could rest in.

As the journey began anew, Ceriden quickly realized that Gareth did not seem to be anywhere as cheery as Ceriden had expected him to be. Curious as to what was troubling his vampire companion, Ceriden asked, "What is troubling you, Gareth? You're now a free man. I kind of thought you would be happy about this development. Am I mistaken?"
