Stealthy Escape

Mar was surprised to see both Carla and Ring on board. However he didn't have time to complain about it. He weaved the Swift through fields of debris, dodging blaster fire from the pursuing TIE fighter as best he could and hoping the shields would be able to hold the instances he wasn't able to do that without failing. It was then that Mar decided that if he managed to survive this he was going to overhaul the crap out of the ship's shield systems.

Meanwhile, it seemed KC and Carla were getting along as the droid happily played along with the chicken's incessant badgering of Mar's piloting skills.

Mar banked the ship into a the broken innards of an old star destroyer, the cover providing him with a chance to stop and activate the ship's stealth systems. A powerful energy field enveloped the Void Swift, masking its energy signatures and bending the light around it making it practically invisible. Mar then waited for the TIE fighter to fly past them, and once it did, he gunned the engines, breaking out of stealth mode, and turning the tables on the fighter as he proceeded to chase it down.

"BEEZ DEEDLE DEEDLE DEE!" KC remarked.

"That wasn't luck," Mar said, somewhat miffed that the droid would suggest as much. "That was skill!"

"BWOO DOOT DOOT DOOT."

"I'm doing that right now!" Mar said, exasperated by the peanut gallery.

Mar then opened fire on the fighter, a barrage of red blaster bolts overwhelming the TIE fighter and soon reducing it to fiery debris. Once it was clear that no other ships were in pursuit, Mar took the ship into a high orbit before jumping to hyperspace. Then he slumped into his seat and let out a sigh of relief. Then activated the ship's internal comms to tell Serenity they were safe for the time being.

Then he looked to Carla and KC. He grimaced at the eggs that were still rolling around the bridge. "KC..."

"Bwoot?"

"Clean this up. Put them in the food bay, I think we know what we'll be eating for the foreseeable future." He then smirked at Carla. "We'll get you back to Ghost as soon as possible... and thanks for the eggs..."

Mar was in a good mood. The clean getaway from the fighters and being away from Ripper had eased his mind greatly. However he was still conscious about the fact that he was woefully unprepared for the task he'd been forced to undertake.

He was a lousy teacher, or at least that was the basic gist of his concerns. He would need help... He needed a real jedi to not only teach Serenity but to help guide him on his path to the light, or as close to the light as he could get.

The venomous way Quint had regarded him after his treatment of Ripper was still haunting him. It proved he himself had a long ways to go before he was anything resembling a Jedi, though Mar wondered if he really wanted to be that. Mar knew the Jedi were flawed just as much as the Sith were. There had to be a middle ground, that had been Mar's intention when he gathered the Jedi and Sith texts to study. Yet he was finding himself being pulled back to the dark side.

The only thing keeping him from falling at this point was Serenity. Every time she saw him like that she would get scared or cry.

And for some reason it killed Mar to see her cry.

He found Serenity still in the cargo hold, he was unsure how she was doing at the current moment.

"We're safe for now." Mar told her. "It seems like the Ring droid has input the coordinates to Ghost's home world into the navicom so we're on our way there... should be there in a few hours from the looks of it." He put his hand on her shoulder. "You look tired. I'd suggest getting some rest or meditating." The latter of which being what Mar decided to do when he later retreated to the silence of his personal cabin.

He had to work through some things, and consider what his next steps should be.
