(Ursa) ~ In that Moment

“Well shit…” Was all Ursa could think to say before turning on her heel ready to make haste back the way she had come only to find her path was now blocked.

“The chase, it appears, has reached its end little Witch.” The Church Knight now blocking the doorway announced in a grim almost humorless tone. “Whatever demons you can call upon or tricks you can conjure will not save you from the true and righteous judgement of the Church.”

Ursa couldn’t help but smirk, shaking her head in disbelief at the man’s bravado as she drew her sword. “You're assuming a great deal churchmen.”
" I assume nothing Witch." He stated plainly.

While the Knight's face lay hidden from her gaze behind a mask of cold iron and steel the truth was that she didn’t need to see his features to know that all too familiar expression he wore beneath. That grim single-minded certainty that he alone was in the right and that through faith alone he would be able to overcome any and all evils of this world.

Seeing her draw her weapon the knight paused and adjusted his footing preparing for her charge to which Ursa could only smirk shaking her head in mock disbelief.
“I can’t believe you moron’s fall for that every time.”

If the Knight was even aware of what she had said he gave no outward sign. Rather only just realizing that she was not going to charge him as he raised his own weapon moving forward at a run. Completely unaware that his pause had given her all the time she had needed to channel the energy for her spell.

"Dea divinae manus!”

The power escaped her in a sudden rush of energy that struck the Knight full in the chest driving him back as it crushed his breastplate and shield in an instant.

It was in that moment that Ursa realized the mistake she had made.
