(Ursa) ~ Day to Night

The Grey Haven was ancient even by ancient standards. A place with a very dark and very bloody history spanning centuries. What was not generally known however was that the ruins of the ancient fortress were itself built upon the bones of an even more ancient site.

The very stones of the fortress itself cut from the ruins of an even older site long forgotten to history. A place where beings older than time itself were said to have ruled over an ancient empire and now slumbered deep into the earth. Beings whose power had bled into earth and burned for all time into the very stones of the fortress itself.

It was no sooner than had she channeled the magic into the spell that Ursa realized that something was wrong.

In an instance day had seemingly turned into night and the bone chilling cold of winter had been replaced by an almost oppressive and overwhelmingly warm air heavy with and unnatural humidity. The dull looming gray of a stormy winter day replaced by an endless black void reaching outwards for a seeming eternity.

For the briefest of moments she had dared to hope that her perceptions had been warped by feedback from the spell and that the dirty gray flakes adrift in the air were simply snow but that hope was dispelled the moment the first flakes touched her skin. That familiar touch of icey of snow that she had been forced to endure these past several days replaced now by the gritty warm dry texture of ash.

And then there was the smell, that all too familiar stench of death that hung in the air.
It was then that a feeling of overwhelming dread filled her. The all to familiar hand of memory seemingly reaching deep into her beast as the reality of the situation she suddenly found herself struck home.
