Why?

Kent couldn't help but trace his fingers over the scars gently, knowing by the directions they ran how they had gotten there. "Oh, Tam..." He whispered and pulled her close again, kissing her forehead. "You were in a lot pain, weren't you? I'm sorry you hurt that much..."

All he felt was a deep sadness for this girl. She had been through so much and no one had ever been there to save her from it.

Glancing to the room around them, he quickly unlocked the door and glanced into the hallway to make sure the other two were still asleep. Positive it was safe, he pulled Tam toward the room he had been allowed to sleep in and closed the door behind them, making sure to lock it as well.

Turning his attention back to Tam, he stroked her face gently. "Are you sure about this?" He asked, still worried he might be forcing her into something she wasn't ready for.

Kevin groaned and wiped sweat from brow before answering. "I don't know, man...I just shoved her away and ran..." He was still breathing hard, but at least he could talk again. Fight or flight had kicked in and his legs had chosen flight for him.

He just hoped Layla hadn't been hurt when he shoved her away. That could be twisted into all sorts of things against him.

"I just want to forget it ever happened." Kevin finally groaned and sat up. Grabbing his backpack, he got to his feet and looked to Max. "Why is it the one girl that likes my scar is a fucking teenager?"
