03.31: Ayala - Bernice

As an archaeologist Professor Bernice Summerfield was used to dealing with the long dead, she never ever got to speak with the people she dealt with in her professional life.
Until now that is.
She had to remind herself that she was dealing with a vulnerable person here. Okay, she could snap Bernice in two like a twig but she was still vulnerable. She was a human being not an exhibit.
The sociological structure Ayala was describing fitted with many theories, and conflicted with just as many others.
“You mentioned about teaching the young. That is what we do here. Our brood is very different to yours. Our numbers are vast, and like your tribe people specialise in their function within society. We no longer have to hunt, although some do for recreation. We have healers too. You will have met some of those when you arrived here, they checked you were healthy and that nothing you might encounter here would hurt you. Ah… we can stop a lot of sicknesses before they start.”
