13.01: Basketball

Min was not much on sports really, he played team sports because it was a social thing to do. He loved skateboarding and was exceptionally good at it, but he didn’t really see that as a sport, even though it was in the Olympics. For him it was one more way to enjoy movement. The sports facilities here at the Institute were great and he had been trying them out just for fun. Now it was basketball. The day was cold outside and an area in one of the arms of the Greenhouse had been set up with a hoop.
Min was getting about one in five shots, otherwise the ball decides to go off on its own random direction. Consequently he spent most of his time chasing the thing.
He had worked up quite a sweat and went to his water bottle by the bench to the side near the glass wall.
He was pretty much okay with his life here and the people were agreeable, sometimes incomprehensible but agreeable. Most of them went well. But it was not home.
He missed the band and what it could have been but for those bastards who managed them. They had been good together, worked together, they had been so damned good.
That was all gone now.
You only ever got one shot at something like that. Min was a realist but he still had deep regrets about what had been lost.
He took a drink and watched one of Aces’ videos on his phone.
