16: Nightcrawler (Danny Adeniran)

Danny smiled at the compliment from Kurt’s Mom, and said thank you to her. He looked at Kurt’s collection of stuff, they had so little and Danny could relate to that, everything he owned post dated his arrival at Xaviers. He had no idea what a Walkman was though.
“I have played basketball for most of my life. A few of the guys here play soccer. But there aren’t really enough people here to form proper teams. There’s some solo sports played, tennis, archery, riding, swimming, fencing, paddle boarding, weightlifting, running, martial arts. If you want to do a sport just ask Kurt. They will probably say yes.”
He saw Mrs Wagner liked cooking shows, they were a weakness for him too. But not all cooking shows, he didn’t like those that talked down to their audience. And he hated the ones where the chefs thought it was okay to abuse people, if he ever met Gordon Ramsey he would show him what being bullied was really like.
“I think the pepper is wrong too, Mrs Wagner. I would have used Szechuan peppercorns. Okay I know they are not strictly speaking from the pepper family. But they are so aromatic and have a delightful pungent flavour.”
“I know that there are people in the school who do theatre trips,” he told his new friend. “I haven’t been, musicals are really not my thing.”
When Kurt asked about school rules he took Kurt’s tablet and called up the relevant page on the school’s site. He made sure it was in German.
He did not understand what Kurt meant by ‘people gather and fight but not like when angry for fun’ and asked him to clarify what he said.
