17: Namor McKenzie (By Jack)

Jack trod water with great efficiency considering the diminished leg power he had, this was explained when Namor noticed that his hand skulling was very well executed.
"Most students here have been rescued from danger or impossible home situations. But there are a few like yourself whose ambitions have been... neutralised. We have a world class ballet dancer whose decade of work has come to nothing, Jamie, one of the X-Men, he was an Olympian as a junior pentathlete and would most certainly have earned a medal in the adult competition. The x-gene excluded him from competition.
"Some, like Jamie, find an alternative route in life. You might too. But it will be your route Namor. And there is no pressure on you to find that way, it will come in its own time. Or it wont. I am not going to bullshit you, not all endings are rosy. I was told I would never race again, they were wrong, I am a better driver than I was before the accident. But not because of it, I wasn't anywhere close to my best when I had the crash. But I would probably be a real mess if I didn't have driving and teaching. That was my route Namor. You will find yours. Come on let's swim some more, I guess you don't need to rest much but I can use a break now and then as I need to be upright now and again, losing the legs altered my balance and centre of gravity."
Jack could talk while swimming so the conversation could continue as he took on the next section of his swim.
