Second Impressions?

Friar Jassin Balvaris hadn't noticed her at first, for he was expecting something quite different. He watched the enervated woman approach. Could this really be the Arbiter? The holy warrior? The sword of the faiths? Others had dubbed her the Sirenian Swan of Vastad, a gentle beauty and a unassuming danger. But this woman looked frail, walking with a sullen expression, her hair frazzled like straw, her porcelain skin blotched with weeks of dirt and grime and her robes ragged. He thought back to three years prior when he had arrived, had he looked much better? The Friar marched forward to greet her.

"Ah, Arbiter Sahnsuur is it? May I offer to take your... belongings?"

Voah collected herself as the robed man approached followed closely by two hooded acolytes. He was as tall as her, but ungracefully thin. With a strained smile, she trudged forward, "Well met, Friar..." Reaching from the depths of her mind, she found the man's name. "Friar Balvaris."

She shrugged, "I'm afraid I haven't any belongings."

He clasped his hands together and looked her over awkwardly. "Yes, well... Are you quite alright? "

"That remains... to be seen." she laughed to herself.

"Ah... It is indeed a tiresome journey, but here you are. Brother Percei, Brother Bern, meet the Arbiter, Voah Sahnsuur."

Two hooded men bowed.

" Allow us to show you to your new lodgings."

They walked together as they talked.

"You will be situated in the Priory in the Misty Ward, the ah.... smallest district, there is a small community of academics and clergy who make their home there. Your accommodations are already prepared for you, including a... hot bath." he chuckled.

After a short walk the came to the Misty Ward Priory.

"Thank you Friar. You've been most kind."

"No trouble at all. Is there anything else you'll be needing?"

"A straight razor wouldn't hurt."

He looked at her, dumbfounded until she raised her arm to reveal a tuft of short blonde hair under her arm.

He cleared his throat and replied in embarrassment. . "I see."
