Redemption?

He had not spoke so much to another human being in the last 4 years. Not once while roaming the green valleys and perilous overhanging cliffs of of Fang. Not once while exploring long forgotten and abandoned ruins or digging down into abandoned mines, shifting through the secrets of a race changed beyond recognition.

Her question was to the point. One he didn't know if he had a right answer for.
He shrugged. "A misplaced sense of duty?" He asked rhetorically. "Maybe it filled a hole in me that seemed to grow when I felt the Pillars had turn from us in the settlement. Maybe vanity too..." He said knowing that the real answer had a bit of both.

He looked at Alexis in the dying light. Since meeting her in the ruins and caves above Maru, he had completed the one task it had taken him almost 4 years to accomplish.

Less than a week after he was well on the way to finding the map and the possible location of the Hammer's shaft. Alexis Greyriver again. She didn't know it yet but her part in this quest was going to be more significant than she imagined or wished for. He could see a fire in her path. Or the embers of a fire. One that once lit would ravage everything in its path. One that she would control or consume her.

"You're from Garrah, yes?" He asked remembering a few words she had spoken. "Not too different from Fang, I would imagine. You would fit well there." He said.

"Do you worship any of the Pillars?" He asked curious.
