Father of War & Justice

Voah practically threw herself down onto the sand to kowtow at the sight of this revelation. Overcome with guilt, shame, and terror, she averted her gaze, looking down and away from the soul piercing eyes of silent ire as the vision (or... avatar?) of the mighty God of War and Justice approached in a body of flesh and blood not dissimilar to her own human form.

It was not some hallucination brought on from heat or poisonous mould, not a dream... she knew. No, far from it. The truth rang from her very soul and her heart beat out of her chest. Her limbs vibrated in shock as she cravenly quivered in his presence.

Had Vastad finally come for his justice? Vengeance for her betrayal to the Inquisition? For ignoring and abandoning her duties? Had he come to end her wretched existence? Had Voah survived Cambena's storm of sand only to be finished off by the deity to whom she had devoted at least a decade of her life in service?

The selfish thoughts lasted no more than a second or two before turning to the reason for her infidelity. Gonyaul... the godless Vaux... child of the void... the Odier tribes whose blood of Erewhon who knew nothing of the Pillars and Inquisition.... various pagans who helped her, saved her life... and heathens she consorted with peacefully who swore their faith in her, spoken and unspoken... Hunter and Tarmen...

Another feeling churned inside her, like that of spurned youth being punished by an angry parent for disobedience. She slowly backed her self into position between the deity and her beloved inside the tent, but she could not find a voice to speak against this sense of injustice. It didn't seem fair. Not right...

She wept in silence. It didn't matter. If this was indeed her God, she knew that words were unnecessary anyhow. He would simply know the intent in her mind, right? She was doomed.
