Can't Change Some Things

The strange tracks were definitely curious, if alarming. Islana had no idea what could have made them. The huntress knew the tracks of almost every animal in the woods, the trip north she had added the tracks of plains animals, but out here the tracks were new and different. She had figured some of them out, there were new ones that her mind could guess at, but these tracks left Islana completely at a loss.

Kaithak's sudden shift in directions made her stop and take notice. It was odd that the falcon had done that and the witch had almost called him back but something caught her eye. Tracks but this time Islana was fairly certain of the cause of them, it had to be a child.

It could be another on the Pilgrimage of Bones. What if it was a lost child? Being the pull was telling Islana to follow the strange tracks, it was possible the child could be lost, either way.

The draw hadn't given the young woman much of a choice before now but it seemed to be allowing her to decide this one for herself.

I'm going to regret this, aren't I?

Islana though knew what she would regret more.

Alright, Kaithak. Let's go.

The young witch began to follow the smaller tracks.
