A lively oasis

JP with Winteroak and Bandorchu

After all these days of traveling the lonely sands, this display of vibrant life truly felt like a breath of fresh air for the Garrahn woman.

She could tell, despite the homesteads consisting of tents, this place was meant to stay - a village for lack of better wording. With another caravan arriving, it might actually serve as a trading hub of sorts.

Alexis observed the people inhabiting the oasis for a bit. It remembered her a little of home actually. Not the environment, of course, but the way they interacted with each other. There was a sense of … family ties. Maybe like a clan?

In any case, despite the relief of being among people again, she would do well to remember Helians were not high on the popularity scale. Better be on her best behavior.

“Here’s to hoping they are the tolerant sort…”

As you approach the oasis your senses are assailed by the normal bustling sounds of a settlement. After almost a week on the desert this is a very welcome sight and experience. Women are shouting after children to come in for their evening suppers, groups of men gather in small groups near small fires drinking and chatting after a days work.

The smell of roasted meat, vegetables and freshly cooked bread invade your nostrils making your stomachs rumble, after so many days on dry rations.

The merchants lead their animals to a sort of corral, after unloading some of their goods which they will sell here. With a few gestures and faltering words you understand they are telling you to meet them tomorrow here at sunrise. You are free to wander the camp as all travels are. Food and drink sound like a good idea. There seems to be some sort of area with stalls selling wares, near the waters edge.
