Sentinel Island Camp - Day 2 Encounter: Red Cap

Past midday - Till and Nicolaus

Nicolaus was returning from the trees he had been sampling to see a dust devil apparently following Till the sailor who was either oblivious or unconcerned. It appeared however to be gaining on him. Fascinated he watched as Till crossed the salt around the campsite and when the dust devil encountered it a small popping and crackling sound sent Till face down into the sand. Nicolaus broke into a run and quickly assessed the fallen man. The sailor seemed merely surprised and a little disorientated but was quickly recovering. He turned his eyes to the intruder to see it evaporate into a man. A man with a dark caste wearing nothing but a loincloth, hat and smoking a pipe. He was grinning. Nicolaus rose and walked to his satchel and pulled a small packet from a pouch then walked to the edge of the salt circle. He also noted this man had only one leg. It seemed natural not induced. The (man's?) yellow eyes glistened.

Nicolaus offered the packet.
