Crossing borders

Seriously, what was it with those guys and their obsession with blood?

Alexis ducked behind a tree and held her dagger at the ready, leaving her sword sheathed as to not make any noise.

She silently observed the men for a while and swiftly concluded: she was not what they were having their head on a swivel for.

Those guys were nervous. Afraid even. And Alexis wasn’t nearly conceited enough to think they were afraid of her.

She wondered if she might have been onto something, thinking that someone or something else held dominion in this area… If so, they seemed to be a less than welcoming neighbour to the natives.

In any case it looked like she might be able to circumvent these guys. They didn’t seem very keen on doing an extensive search around here.

Sooo, potentially, she might be able to get rid of any native pursuers on her heels. And in exchange she would only have to deal with some nondescript entity that even the local blood crazed populous was scared of.

Joy.

But, in the end, this was the most likely route to the beach. So nondescript entity it was.

Alexis carefully and quietly moved from tree to tree, giving the hunting party a wide berth as she continued on her way.

Idly she wondered why she felt as freakishly calm about this disaster in the making as she did.

Maybe she was just too done to even feel afraid right now.
