Silent Mourning

Other than the questions and formalities, of which there was no escape, Islana remained silent. Her prayers for her fallen friends, silent. As her eyes looked away from their burning bodies and Alexis, silent.

Her life had been easier before the young huntress had let anyone in. Had been even easier when she lived in the woods. Lonely but certainly easier.

The grief, anger and guilt she felt only grew with each passing moment. She had never thought her investigation would lead to something so awful. Islana could have handled anything thrown at her but it had taken down her friends. It had taken down people she had decided to care about.

The young woman was determined to see everything with the cult through to the end. She would, but did it mean that anyone had to be let in the way Jiyn had been allowed in? Of that Islana was unsure.
