Roughing it

The trip was rough and miserable. Every rut and bump went from the wheels to the seat through his back and echoed in his head. He even got to the point that he rode standing as he drove the team.

Wim looked at the town and sighed, His humble pit of a home was a mansion compare to this. The easiest way to describe this place was dirty. Wim watched the miners and the other workmen. This place had needs but he was not sure it had the means to purchase what was needed. The Duke would need to supplement this place to get it started and to keep it going.

Wim pulled out another small book and started writing.

Master Sadir,
Attached is a rough “map” with the dangers noted.
As to Aquilo, the place is rougher than expected. Lumber will be a big seller as there is few structures. Any shops here would be at risk and fire would take the entire town down. Crime was probably through the roof, it needed feminine entertainment, Wheelwrights, carpenters, and stone masons. The mine is operational and they are smelting iron. I am wondering what they are using for fuel as there is rich black smoke coming up.

It is a perfect plumb if someone had five to ten years to wait for a return on ones investments.

He closed the book and placed in his pocket.

Wim hopped off the wagon and headed for the “tavern” try to sell a cask of Ale and to find the group lodging. Tarmen would be finding whoever was in charge. That would set the tone for everything that happened next.
