The search for a passage

Joint post with Redsword, Zeeke and Winteroak.

As the groups leave the fort after having made their preparations Boyce and Wim settle in to make use of the last remaining hours of fading daylight. Boyce deducts there are only two places where an entrance could be found. Near or under the huge stone statue or under the crumbling staircase near the north wall.

Wolf had told the others he would go look around the fortress for an entrance to the caves or tunnels below them. Wim had volunteered to go with Wolf. after putting his pack together Wolf Looked over to Wim. "We don't have much daylight left Wim we should get moving. The crumbling staircase near the north wall is a good place to start. are you ready to go?" asked Wolf standing.

Wim looked at him and said, “Yes, I think so.”
He had grabbed some rope and the shovel just in case they were needed.

The two walked up to the crumbling staircase. this place was old very old. they had to be careful not to slip or fall as Wolf examined the staircase finding the best way up.

Wim looked curiously at Boyce that decide to ascend to the first level of the fort looking for an entrance to the underground caves. By the time they searched the first floor the light faded and they would have to continue tomorrow. Probably use their vantage point to search for clues.

Wolf Took off his pack. He took out a box that has a sliding door on it he opened the box. and he took another small box out as well. Putting some things together made a flame and lit a candle in the box. Light came from the box shining about thirty feet.

Wolf smiled "Have light will travel. Wolf shined the light around "there is nothing here. We missed something," said Wolf. He turned slowly then chuckled. "Come on, let's backtrack some. going back to the stairs Wolf looked at them closely even moving stones to see if there was a space behind or below them.

Although the lantern gave you a decent amount of light, as you backtracked down the staircase, you find a stone ramp leading down into the dark. There is a pungent smell emanating from it. Like a mixture of guano and wet fur. You look at one another wondering if you should wait until the morning to go explore the lower levels of the fort.

"What is that smell? I think this should wait until morning I Think we should go back and tell the others what we found," suggested Wolf taking to Wim.

Wim wrinkled his face at the smell.
"Tomorrow sound like a good idea," he responded.
