her head turned towards the sound at the same time he spoke. "and a calf." she answered turning her horse in that direction. the mother sounded distressed, and she was limping, large gashes streaked down her hind legs, coyotes Rainey was sure. she didn't see the calf and that worried her. as they got closer her eyes continued to scan the grounds, rocks and trees. Still no sign. she circled the mother while she looked to keep her from wondering to far off again.
