Chapter 1 Pt 5

Marley nodded "yeah i think she wants the good panels to be saved and sent over and donated to the HFH the rest is getting put through the woodchipper and ground down for mulch. New garden or something" she said with a shrug." she clapped her hands together and rubbed them like a fly. "So...what do you want me to do?" Rainey motioned with her head as she slammed a nail into place. "Help him with that. then saddle up. we will have to help her move the herd to 7 then come back out tomorrow to start replacing it.". Marley picked up a hammer and started nailing the panel Alex was holding into place.
as they were finishing up and climbing back in the saddles Kate showed up. " Hey hey." she said as she trotted next to them "got it fixed. let go ahead and get this over with." she said before steering her horse towards the herd.
the next few hours were filled with the sound of hooves hitting the ground the whistles and hoops of the ranchers and the moos of the disagreeable cattle that didn't want to be moved. this was hard work, this was slow work but every bit worth it. to Kate it was business, to Marley it was play, but for Rainey this was just life. something that needed to be done to keep it going, to keep her going.
once moved they counted again Kate pulled next to Rainey and Alex. "We are missing one. she was due to pop so she might have laid down somewhere to have the baby." Rainey nodded turning her horse as she spoke "yeah ill circle back look for them" Kate nodded and turned to finish up.

In town David was already pretty drunk as he stumbled into the men's bathroom of the bar he had stopped at. he stepped into a stall and locked it behind him lazily dumping the contance of a bag on the toilet roll holder. fucking public bathrooms getting rid of the back part of the toilets...had to make everything harder.
using a rolled-up Benjerman he sniffed up the powder. he sighed ad happy sigh and leaned back against the stall wall before stuffing it all back in his jacket pocket checking his face in the mirror and stumbling back out to drink some more.
he hated this bar, hated this tow, hated that ranch. he should be in a big city somewhere beach side. somewhere always sunny. then he could be drunk on a beach instead of drunk in a bar. even if it was only 10am on a weekday.
