Pawn - Therapy for Private Reed

Adonis IV
Six Star Alliance - Fortress Station

The therapy session took place in a serene room on the Six Star Alliance Fortress Space Station, designed to promote tranquility and reflection. Soft, earthy colors and tranquil artwork adorned the walls, and two comfortable chairs were set up around a low coffee table. Elio had been working with a case load of three soldiers several times a week since he arrived on the station.

Private Jameson Reed, a soldier burdened by the experiences of multiple campaigns and body transformations, sat in one of the chairs, his eyes clouded with anxiety. He fidgeted with his fingers, a silent indication of his inner turmoil.

Pawn, the combat medic, sat in the chair across from Private Reed. He exuded a sense of calm and compassion as he began the therapy session, relying solely on questions to guide the conversation.

"Private Reed, what is it about your past transformations that haunts you most? Are there specific moments that weigh heavily on your mind?" Pawn started based on where their last session ended.

"It's the... the constant change. It feels like I'm losing myself each time, and I'm left to pick up the pieces." Private read frustratedly answered.

“Can we explore the notion that these past versions of yourself are not lost, but rather parts of your journey? What could you learn from them?" Pawn inquired.

Private Reed struggled with the idea. "I've never thought of it that way, but they feel like different people. I'm not sure how to reconcile them."

Pawn tried another set of questions, "What if these 'strangers' have lessons to offer? Can they offer insights that might guide you towards understanding and healing?"

"I suppose there might be wisdom in those experiences, a way to find my way back to who I once was." Private Reed reflected.

"And if we consider the possibility that who you once were isn't lost, but transformed into someone stronger, how might that change your perspective?" Pawn pressed.

Private Reed almost mumbled, lost in thought. "I never considered that. It's a different way of looking at my experiences I guess."

"Private Reed, what if we aim not to erase your past, but to learn to embrace it? How might self-acceptance and a new understanding of yourself play a role in your healing?" Pawn asked patiently.

"It's a profound shift in thinking. Instead of trying to forget, I could try to understand and integrate my past into who I am now." Private Reed was beginning to connect some dots.

The therapy session continued with Pawn gently guiding Private Reed through self-reflection and introspection. They delved deeper into the complexities of his experiences, slowly paving the path towards healing and self-acceptance. The man wasn’t ready for combat quite yet, but perhaps he would be sooner than later.
