Enter The Joker

Flashback:
Kenny was with his Squad called the Wild Cards. His code name was the "Joker" due to his crazy tactics in combat. His squad was in the dark as they quickly ran in the war filled zone with bullets whizzing by and explosions lighting up the night. Kenny and his suicide squad raced with a purpose as they headed for their target. It was rough running through the hail of bullets, explosions, tripping hazards and traps. As they got closer they lost a few members to random gunfire. However the mission came first so they pressed on knowing the danger ahead. By chance they came across a tank parked in the brush as the driver was taking a leak. Kenny and his team quickly killed the tank operators who dropped their guard. Then they stole the tank and drove it back to the enemy headquarters. Once they reached the checkpoint they busted through the checkpoint and gunned the gas as they were being shot at. The tank was on fire as it barged into the enemy base. Then Kenny and his team yelled, "Ziggybamwa!!" loudly as they pulled the ripcord on the bombs attached to their armor. The tank and base exploded and lit up the sky as it engulfed the enemy base.

Present time:
Sgt. Kenny Wade Wilson woke up from his nightmare. He stared at the ceiling as he clamed his breathing down. As he looking at the ceiling he began to think to himself, "It's been to long since I killed me a man, and already I'm startin'to get the itch.
Problem is I ain't got nothin' to scratch. Man, I'm hungry. Hungry for action. - Hungry for blood. Hell. I'm just plain ol' hungry. - Feel I'm gettin' weaker...while da Union's growin' stronger in the field. I can't lose my edge. I gotta keep my strength up.
I gotta maintain discipline. Because the hard reality was... I gotta pay for my dear sweet sister Lily's education and living expenses and that ain't cheap. After our folks died I swore to raise her the best I could. Sadly ain't no one gonna take care of us for free. So I joined the military. - And what better place...than the military that would allow me to employ...my skills as a trained killer. Hmmmph. Funny how its the only thing I seem to be good at."

Just then the tv came on and the news lady was talking about the upcoming events.

"Good Evening Central World and welcome to NNN ..."

The image of the new desk anchor Ms. Diane Oda filling the main viewer of the plaza as her voice came from every speaker like a melody. Her image that of a goddess of old an almost ethereal beauty untouchable by time or the common man. A renowned journalist working for the NNN Media Group for the last decade, she was now the face of the 35th Campaigns media machine bringing the latest highlights and in-depth interviews with the movers and shakers of the coming conflict.

Kenny looked at the tv promoting the new upcoming Campaign. Kenny's body itched as he remembered the pain of dying over and over again. As he sat up he rubbed his eyes and popped his neck. A nurse came in and checked his vitals before recording them. Once she was done his stomach growled and she told him to head to the mess hall for some chow before his check up. Kenny nodded as his stomach growled again. He looked up to see the end of the news feed.

Diane Oda appeared again delivering her final words for that evening, emphasizing the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence with her closing sentence.

"May the spirit of this campaign live on, bridging the gaps that divide us."

Her image faded but the electricity in the air remained.

Kenny then rolled his eyes up and sighed before he scratched his belly and made his way to the mess hall for some protein waffles, vitamin juice and powdered eggs. It was the usual free chow he ate to save money for his sister. He didn't much care for the flavor since he just shoveled it in his mouth real fast. Once he was done he entered the waiting room to see the med staff for his check up. After checking in he took a seat in a waiting chair and saw more war propaganda on the vid screen.
