Brief History

Roopah’s mother made a deal with a Devil; give birth to his child in exchange for a boon. Roopah’s mother also made a deal with a witch to give up her first child in exchange for another boon. Roopah’s mother delivered Roopah to the witch. From there, the witch and the Devil fought over Roopah. The two eventually agreed to a joint custody agreement. Roopah would spend the springs and summers with the witch, then the falls and winters in Avernus.

The witch wanted to train Roopah to be a witch as well, but Roopah was completely incapable of doing magic. When Roopah broke her first bone, the witch tried to heal it with magic, but no magic affected her. After dealing with her broken bone, the witch tried other magic spells, but none affected her. The only thing that affected her was the consequences of the magic, like a fireball causing a barrel to explode, pieces of the barrel flying through the air, and hitting her would hurt.

She joined the Blood War while in Avernus when she was old enough to fight. One day, she was approached by a smuggler with an opportunity to smuggle stuff in and out of Avernus. She agreed if she was paid up front.

In 1490, the witch died. After settling her affairs and cremating her, Roopah moved to Avernus permanently. In 1492, she saw a Nautiloid shortly before one of its slimy tentacles teleported her inside. The Nautiloid crashed before they could attempt to infect her with one of their disgusting parasites. When she got free, she made her way back to the witch’s home. She found squatters there; they now live in Avernus as lemures.

After cleaning up the mess the squatters made living and dying there, she took a nap. She stayed for a while. She eventually sought her smuggler contacts; it took her a while, but she eventually found one of them dying along with a dead Mindflayer. She questioned him, it turns out the dead Mindflayer was the smuggler’s partner and brother. Roopah took over the smuggling business; she knew it fairly well. She knew she needed to take over, some depended upon the operation to live. When Mindflayers started popping up left and right, she gathered everything and fled Baldur’s Gate as fast as possible.
