It’s time to select a 2019 Simming Fall Festival (aka FallFest) host & chair! If you’re interested in hosting & chairing the simming world’s premier one-day community event, submit an application by August 18th. This will be our 9th festival since beginning the tradition back in 2011. Read More
For the record, OngoingWorlds still does not accept responsibility for the internet outages of June 2nd or the asteroid that buzzed by Earth that same day. However they are correct that anyone can create any game they like on our website, including one about role playing itself!
You heard that right! And no, I’m not talking about a sim with a game show as the setting, but rather a sim that’s also game show–were you can be both contestant and simmer at the same time! As far as we can tell, this has never been done before so we’ll be breaking new ground. We often do that here at Ongoing Worlds!
How will it work?
We’re still figuring that out. However, the game will be designed primarily around the contestants who volunteer. At the most basic level, the sim/game will be hosted on the Ongoing Worlds platform, and I’ll write weekly blog posts here to serve as the episodes. We’ll likely start with 10-12 contestants and have the game run 8-10 weeks. It will function more or less like a typical sim except there will be one or more tasks to complete each week for the game show aspect. We except a fall airtime.
What a SciWorld! Unfortunately, I was only able to attend my own event, I’ve but I’ve reviewed the transcripts and it looks like it was a excellent convention! I saw a lot of great ideas exchanged and some really interesting discussions. Most importantly, I saw the best of the simming and role playing community: YOU! In short, the 20th anniversary of SciWorld was everything I hoped it would be and more. We’re off to a superb start for the next 20 years.
When I announced SciWorld 2019 last month, I failed to notice that this would indeed be the 20th anniversary of the SciWorld Online Convention (Discord Invite: https://discord.gg/EGBwV54). Wow! What a milestone! How could I have missed it?!?
Well, I did. To make up for it, I’m posting an edited version of a previously unpublished interview I conducted with Ender Maki back in 2011. For those who may be wondering, simmer Ender Maki is credited as being the founder of SciWorld. The interview wasn’t conducted for the purpose of publishing, but rather to collect information so I could flesh out a few articles on the old Simming Encyclopedia (which lives on today as Roleplay Wiki). As such, the interview may seem a little disjointed. But it’s still great! Without any further ado, here is Ender Maki, in mostly his own words, from 2011…
That’s right, the 2019 edition of the SciWorld Online Convention will take place May 18th from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM EST in a Discord chat server. As always, SciWorld is open to all simmers and online role players, regardless of rank or club affiliation, and the ticket price remains $/£/€ 0. This year we’re blessed with three hosts who are working hard as you read to put together a great program for us all:
First, plan to attend! This is when the entire simming and online role playing community comes together to discuss new ideas, compete in fun trivia games, and finally, to sim! Second, invite your friends. There really is nothing quite like SciWorld. It’s an experience that words simply can’t do justice. Finally, consider hosting a one-hour discussion, trivia, or sim. What better way to share your experiences with the greater community? Email me at star [dot] idf [at] gmail [dot] com with your event title and your top three time slot choices. Please put “SciWorld” in the subject line.
More information, including URLs and a schedule of events, will be posted later to this blog. Until then…
Testing. Testing. One, two, three. Ok, this thing is on, so pay attention!
The Squiddies are upon us, and it is time to get your submissions in. The due date is March 15, 2019 so get them in. And if you’re unsure if you should submit your game, community, or an outstanding person? Do it! There are a lot of great people and games out there, and we want to hear about them.
Before I put the details here, remember you can also submit your games to the Tournament of Sims (ToS). Your sims might be able to win both awards in one year!
It’s been far too long since we awarded an OngoingWorlds Community Honor (OWCH), but I think it’s important to recognise when someone has done something great in the community.
Tbh there’s so much awesomeness going on right now actually, the community around OngoingWorlds is blossoming, and it feels like there’s loads of events going on all the time that span not just this community, but the entire roleplaying community. Here’s the new recipients of the OWCH: Read More
The below was sent to me by Andrew Greenfelt from Bravo Fleet & this sounds like a great event to get roleplayers together! Here’s the info:
