Who:- Jay, Katrina
Where:- New Siberian Mountains, New Russia
When:- A few hours after the avalanche
The snow by now was really coming down. Jay and Katrina had been walking for
a good 4 hours now, and battled through the blizzard, the snow battering
thier faces with such ferocity neither of them could see mosre than a few
inches ahead. It was because of this Katrina clutched tightly to Jay's hand
as he led the way for fear of losing each other.
"Are you SURE you know where we're going?" Katrina yelled, struggling to be
heard over the wind
"C'mon!" Jay replied "This is ME we're talking about, chief of navigation,
pilot supreme, King Handsome!"
"So..." Katrina said "Are you SURE you know where we're going?"
"Of course! Look, see that?" he pointed at a large rock sticking out of the
ground.
"What about it?"
"We passed it on the way here, it's all about finding landmarks"
"Oh my god, you're right!" Katrina said "We passed it just outside of the
Forest we must be what, 30 minutes, an hour away from the woods?"
"About that, and once we're there we'll at least have SOME shelter..."
"What about everyone else?"
"If they've got any sense, they'll head back to the ship."
"And if they don't?"
"If not, we can use Kelly, the onboard computer's sensor's to find them and
airlift them out."
"Sounds like you've got this all worked out, you're not the moron I first
thought you were when you pounced on me..."
"You say that..." Jay replied "But you haven't seen me in the kitchen!"
"Can't cook?"
"I'd burn water....as well as throw half of it over the walls...."
"Eh, we can eat out..." Katrina said "You like Ital......." she was
interuppted by the sound of a gun shot ringing out.
Jay fell to the ground clutching his left leg. "Gaah" he yelled "The Bounty
hunters! Katrina RUN!!"
"No!! I'm not leaving you!"
"I'll be fine!" Jay said pulling out his hand blaster and firing a blast of
energy in the direction of the shot. He wasn't sure if he hit anything, but
fired again for good measure. Katrina followed suit. "Salter, I told you to
run, that, was an order!!" Jay said, sternly, as another shot rang out. This
one hitting Jay in the chest, knocking him to the ground, unconcious, blood
gushing from his wounds.
"And I said NO!" Katrina replied, firing her weapon.
A third shot rang out, missing Katrina, but she threw herself on the ground
and lay still.
The gunshots stopped, and Katrina heard the faint sound of a truck engine
starting, a jeep in fact.
Reasoning that the sound must be echoing, and was faint, she guessed the
jeep must be a few miles off, and that the Hunter's were using sniper rifles
from the mountain top somewhere. She also guessed that they were heading
this way to collect their bounty, in order to claim their fee.
This in mind, she quickly stopped playing dead and got to her feet, grabbing
Jay by the armpits, she dragged him off toward the forest, stopping every
now and again to cover her tracks.....
