"Oh no what did I break this time!" Panicked Efof.
"Ah just the gravity controls for the medi-bay, I nobody can prove
its
us."
"Cool, bowl me another!" Said Efof.
"Not right now…" Said Mk9, looking away as if distracted. He pointed
to the firewire cable that still connected him to the tactical
computer. "I'm picking up some ships incoming."

Jack lay back in his bed with one leg crossed over the other and
his arms behind his head, he tugged at his surgical gown and covered
his legs as best he could. The nurses here were pretty good looking,
and he had spent the time waiting for Chris to come watching them
and wishing he could change regulations to get the skirts a few
inches shorter.
At that moment, the medibay doors whispered open and the security
chief strode in. He spoke to one of the staff then came over to
Jack's bed and stared down at him. Slowly, deliberately and worst of
all calmly, Chris began to reprimand Jack by the book for his
actions. He quoted regulations and punishments, phrases such
as 'last straw' and 'we don't need insubordination in our ranks'.
Phantom was worried. This sounded like he was serious, this could
be worse than serious. The cool gaze of his superior bored into him
and he had to look away. He took an interest in a glass of water on
a table to his right. There was something not quite right about it.
It took him a while, but then he realised, the water wasn't touching
the bottom of the glass but instead, was sitting quite happily about
half way up.
As he watched it, the water flowed upwards and out of the glass
like a shimmering waterfall in reverse.
"See? Now you aren't even listening to me!" Harris thundered,
losing his cool for a nanosecond.
"No, Sir, look at this." Jack pointed a thin finger at the water,
now globbing it's way roofwards.
"..the smeg is going on here?" The half formed question left
Harris' mouth and somone screamed from behind him. They both looked
in the direction to see everyone had parted company from the ground
and were drifting some way up from the floor. A giddy sensation in
both of their stomachs told them they were too.
This was rather unfortunate for a man in a backless gown, that had
developed a will of it's own, who was floating in midair.
"Jack, put it away. It's not big and it's not clever." Phantom
pulled the flimsy outfit back around him and grasped for the
bedclothes to pull himself back down. Chris looked away, "Holly,
what's going on here?"
The face materialised on one of the monitors. "It looks like one
of the drive room staff has damaged the gravity controls for the
medibay. Also, there are multiple ships inbound and the Captain
requires all pilots and security to their posts. We are now under
red alert."
"Looks like you get one more chance then Phantom. Get dressed and
get on duty." Harris grasped a trolly stacked with medical equipment
and hauled himself towards the door. Meanwhile, Jack grabbed at the
ball of clothes next to him and spent 20 minutes twisting and
turning. Dressing in zero-gee was tricky.
He'd left the medibay rather ungracefully, making the transition
into gravity again by slamming into the floor headfirst and
swearing. Now, Jack wandered along the corridors of the Dwarf
enforcing a Red Alert curfew for the civilians as were others in the
team.
He was mulling over the dream he'd had and remembering, with some
clarity the more sordid details of his time with the London Yakuza.
He came out of it to the repeated hails of the captain, who's image
was being projected on the floor in front.
"..I said, boy, y'all wanna start lissnin to me or ah'll shoot ya
myself." He cocked a pistol at the screen.
"Aye, Sir. I'm listening. What is it you want?" Phantom snapped a
salute.
"We got areselves a little situation here kid. Lots of ships
inbound and only a few varmits who can fly them rustbuckets aboard.
The crew list says yah can fly a bit?"
"Yes, a little. But not in combat."
"It'll have'ta do boy. Git yer ass down to the landing bay and
into an eagle."
"Sir." He saluted and changed course to the hangar.
<TBC>
OOC- Jack'll see anyone else who answers the call of the mighty
captain Jed in the hangar! Not trying to turn Jack into a
multitalented "superman" by the way, just fill in holes as there are
pilots lacking. All with Onion's permission!
