*Action* - "To the rescue" part 3

***Action***
Who: Dr Keto, Efof and guest
Where: Medibay
When: After escaping the battle
When Efof walked into the medibay, Jay was already there, conversing
with Dr Keto. Despite hating each other, they were trying their
hardest to be professionals and ignore their differences.
Efof saw the newcomer sat on a bio-bed in the far corner of the room,
he didn't notice her too much, she was a very plain looking woman. She
was so average that he didn't even give her a second look. Efof waved
to Dr Keto and Jay through the medical office window. Keto was showing
Jay some x-rays and looking slightly confused.
Efof sniggered slightly. No matter how long he spent around humans he
still thought they were funny-looking, with their silly pink or brown
skin, and only two arms. Then something twigged in Efof's brain (more
specifically in the frontal lobe, next to his left testicle). The
woman he had moments ago dismissed as being average was actually the
first "average" looking woman he'd seen since he was brought out of
stasis on his dead world six years ago.
He slowly turned around.
The woman sat on the edge of the bio-bed waved nervously to him – with
four arms.
Efof did a double-take. Then rubbed his eyes. He thought maybe he was
seeing double from the vodka shots he'd been encouraged to drink in
Parrotts last night.
The woman was Ffionian. She had four arms and blue skin. She had hair
down past her shoulders, some of it swept forward over her forehead to
protect her dignity. She was wearing a flight suit, nothing elaborate,
quite functional in fact. It bore insignia that Efof didn't recognise,
but she was definitely Ffionian.
She was only averagely attractive, the dull flight suit didn't do much
for her, and her hair looked flat and greasy, like she'd spent a long
time in the cockpit of her ship. But Efof's beanie hat lifted a few
inches in the air just thinking about having a female Ffionian aboard.
For six years he had known that his planet was destroyed, and his
family and friends were dead, but had always wondered what he would
say if he ever met another Ffionian again.
Feeling his hand's go clammy he wiped them on his short trousers and
bounded over to the Ffionian woman and stood in front of her
nervously. He then proceeded to do a Ffionian mating dance, which
looked like Michael Jackson getting electrocuted.
When he was finished he stopped and winked at her.
She got up and slapped him. "Pervert!" she said.
After six years of never seeing another Ffionian, the slap hurt harder
than most.
"Oww! What was that for? I was only being friendly!" Efof said in his
weak pathetic child-like voice.
The woman shifted uncomfortably and realised what she had done. Efof
was acting so pathetically that she instantly assumed he must be a
slight bit `special'.
"I'm sorry." She said. "I'm just a little defensive lately… what with
being chased by two large warships and everything."
Efof smiled. She gave him half a smile back and looked around the room
uncomfortably. Efof was far from a psychiatrist, but he could tell
that she needed some kind of comforting, he wanted to give her a hug
but that might only earn himself another slap. Truth be told he was
terrible at comforting women, and was especially bad at talking to new
people. He bit his fingers nervously.
Jay walked over and dragged Efof aside. "She's Ffionian!" Efof said.
"Really? I hadn't noticed." Said Jay sarcastically.
Efof rolled his eyes, then started to ask questions excitedly "Why is
she here? Where is she from? Am I not the last one of my race?"
Jay calmed him down. "We don't know, she won't talk to us, but she
might talk to you. I want you to find out everything about you and why
she was being chased."
Efof nodded.
"Oh…. And be subtle!" said Jay, then pushed him towards her.
Efof sat down on the bed opposite the Ffionian woman. "Hi!" he said.
"Um…. Hi." She replied back.
"I'm Efof."
"I'm Fferna." She said.
Efof nodded. He'd not heard a traditional Ffionian name in so long. He
thought of what to say next. "Sooo…"
It was like one of those awkward situations at a party where your
friend introduces you to someone they think you will like and then
buggers off. An awkward silence hung between them.
Efof shifted uncomfortably.
"So, who was chasing you?" he asked.
In Keto's office, Jay smacked his face in disbelief. "I said subtle!"
he said to himself.
The woman grinned. "Straight to the point." She got up and started
walking around. "Those were Halkon warships. My people have been at
war with them for a while now, they are merciless warriors that attack
us without warning. You should see them, they're large green monsters
with a massive mouth that takes up most of their body, and these huge
ghastly teeth. They're repulsive."
Efof cringed.
"I've also heard reports that they can eat a Ffionian whole…" she
sniffed. "I saw… I saw my wingman get captured by their ship last
week, I dread to think of the horrible things they have done to him.
He's…. He's probably dead and digested by now."
Efof bit his lip. His eyes darted about for an exit out of the awkward
moment.
"urm… I'm sure it'll be okay."
"No it won't! It won't be okay because they keep coming! They keep
attacking our ships and our colonies!"
Efof's eyes lit up. "There are more Ffionian planets? How many? Our
homeworld got destroyed, I saw it! I thought I was the only survivor!"
Fferna grinned. "I'll tell you later. First though, you must promise
me that you will help us defeat the Halkons."
"I promise." Said Efof.
She excitedly hugged Efof. Efof wasn't the least bit prepared for it
but enjoyed it immensely. She even smelled like a proper Ffionian.
Already he was prepared to go to the end of the galaxy for this woman.
Fferna gave herself a self-satisfied grin.
--------------------------------------------------------
Who: Jay
Where: Jay's office
When: Short time after
Efof walked into Jay's office with a confident swagger.
"Hey Efof, how does it feel to know you're not the last of your race
anymore?" grinned Jay.
"Absolutely brilliant!" said Efof, sitting and spinning on an office
chair. "And I might have a chance with her too, she's the hottest
Ffionian I've seen in six years!"
Jay bit his lip, remembering back to her slapping him. "Yeah, just…
don't hold your breath on that alright?"
Efof's shoulders sagged and he started playing with the model ships
Jay had on his desk. "Thing is though… my people are under attack by
these big alien things called Halkons."
Jay nodded. "Yes I heard her telling you."
"And she wants our help."
Jay nodded. "Right. Has she been more specific?"
Efof nervously pulled out a technical drawing that Fferna had given
him. It showed a large menacing-looking spacestation.
"This is what she calls `The Halkon gatehouse'." He said.
-------------------------------------------------
Who: Department heads and senior staff
Where: Meeting Room, Blue Dwarf
When: Short time after
Jay stood up. "Cheers for coming guys. We've got a slightly risky
mission to do."
People looked around at the Ffionian newcomer `Ferna' who was also
sitting in at the meeting. Efof grinned at her.
Jay showed the technical drawing to everyone. "This is the `Halkon
Gatehouse', according to intelligence already gathered by the
Ffionians, it is the base of operations of hundreds of attacks on
Ffionian planets."
"And we're going to attack it!" said Efof jumping up and down in his
chair excitedly.
"Yes we are." Said Jay. "I spoke to the Captain earlier and he gave
full authority for a massive assault to help the Ffionians." He
paused. "Actually all he really said was `go kill some aliens yee-haw'
but that's kinda the same."
"So what's the plan of attack?" asked Amber, eager to get going.
"Well, its such a large station that it has to be blown up from the
inside." Said Jay. "The exterior turrets have a long range so we'll
jump the Blue Dwarf in really close to the station to launch the
fighters as close as possible to the target. Then the Blue Dwarf will
bugger off again and wait on the edge of the solar system. The
fighters will then need to destroy four shield generators to get
inside the station. These are here, here, here and here." Jay pointed
to some sticky out thingies on the map, hoping people were paying
attention.
"Then when the shields are down you will be able to get inside. There
are a lattice of large tunnels you have to fly down to the core. Don't
get lost okay?"
Efof rubbed his hands together, having watched the original Star Wars
films recently.
"Unfortunately…" Continued Jay. "You won't be able to fly directly to
the core. There is a small landing deck inside where whoever gets this
far has to land, and then continue on foot. You'll be carrying a large
bomb into the core power generator that we will remote detonate once
everyone is at a safe distance."
Everyone nodded.
-----------------------------------------------
Where: `The Halkon Gatehouse'
When: An hour later
The space station was huge, small spacecraft were milling around it
going about their business.
Suddenly, the Blue Dwarf jumped in so close that it looked like the
station had a long blue extension on one side.
Squadrons of Space Eagles launched out of the Blue Dwarf and formed
into wings, they all turned to the unsuspecting space station.
The Blue Dwarf disappeared again through a new wormhole just as the
station's turrets had charged up and come online. They stayed around
to receive part of a threatening transmission from one of the race
inside, it was fat, green and had a large mouth full of razor-sharp
teeth. It shouted expletives in a language that nobody could translate.
< OOC - Tag everyone! The plan is exactly how Jay mentioned it, shoot
the generators to lower the shields then fly through the tunnels and
continue on foot. You can make complications along the way but I don't
want this to take too long! Remember that we can't understand the
aliens' language >
